WhatÕs New in YoYo Release 2.1 ¥ Support for YoYo Pro YoYoLand now supports the YoYo Pro ISDN PCI card, as well as multiple ADB YoYos. ¥ Accelerated for PowerPC YoYoLand is now a ÒfatÓ application, which enhances performance on PowerPC-based machines while maintaining compatibility with older 680x0-based machines. ¥ Call Back/Redial button A ÒCall BackÓ/ÒRedialÓ button has been added to the call slip windows. ¥ Show Outgoing Call Window checkbox For YoYo Pro, an outgoing call slip window will be displayed when dialing from a phone connected to either of the YoYo Pro phone jacks. To prevent these windows from being displayed, uncheck the ÒShow Outgoing Call windowÓ checkbox in the Options tab of the Dialing window. ¥ Flash YoYo Menu checkbox For YoYo Pro, the YoYo menu will flash to indicate when voice messages are waiting. To turn off this feature, uncheck the ÒFlash YoYo MenuÓ checkbox in the Message Light tab of the Messages window. ¥ YoYo Pro Setup menu item To open the YoYo Pro Setup control panel, select the ÒYoYo Pro SetupÓ item from the YoYo menu. ¥ Show Current Call menu item A ÒShow Current CallÓ item has been added to the YoYo menu, which displays the call slip window for the call currently in progress. ¥ Waiting for caller ID With the original ADB YoYo, incoming call slip windows now display ÒÓ until the caller ID information is received (between the first and second rings.) ¥ Blind transfers It is now possible to transfer an incoming call while the phone is ringing, without answering the call. This feature requires a subscription to the Call Transfer feature from your phone company. ¥ Selective logging It is now possible to specify which activities (incoming calls, outgoing calls, voicemail notifications, or pages sent) are recorded in the logbook. ¥ Log archiving A log archiving facility has been added, and the size of logbooks are now limited to 1000 entries. If you are upgrading from an older version of YoYoLand and already have more than 1000 entries in your logbook, the logbook will no longer grow and will instead drop the oldest entry whenever a new entry is added. ¥ Improved logging of incoming calls After adding or editing a phonebook entry from a call slip window, the call slip window and the current log entry are updated with the new phonebook information. ¥ Improved dialing plan support Separate dialing prefixes can now be specified for individual extension ranges in the Extensions dialog (which has been moved from the Centrex window to the Dialing window.) ¥ Improved selection dialing Selection dialing now always performs a phonebook lookup before displaying the call slip window. ¥ Improved Apple event dialing Phone numbers dialed via Apple events are now parsed for extensions, exceptions, and outside line prefixes before being dialed. ¥ Improved phonebook importing YoYoLand can now import DOS- and Unix-formatted text files into the phonebook. ¥ Improved Telephone Manager compatibility The YoYo Tool and YoYo Pro Tool do transfers/conferences as per the Apple Telephone Manager specifications. ¥ Dynamic menu sizing The width of the YoYo menu now changes dynamically, based on the amount of space needed. ¥ Renamed feature buttons The ÒMessage LightÓ button in the main window has been renamed to ÒMessagesÓ and the ÒCentrexÓ button has been renamed to ÒServicesÓ. ¥ Enhanced paging compatibility For customers who use non-standard paging services, support for variations of alpha-paging has been added: To use a password, include "(P=password)" in the service name To force 300 baud, include "(B=300)" in the service name To vary from a 7E1 connection, include "(D=8N2)" (or whatever) in the service name NOTE: there are no spaces between parentheses, and only exact matches will work VALID EXAMPLES: WePage (B=300) - forces 300 baud WePage (B=300) (P=Puddles) - forces 300 baud, password is Puddles WePage (D=7N1) - forces 7 bits, no parity, 1 stop bit INVALID EXAMPLES: WePage (b=300) - bad: lowercase b WePage (B=300) (P = Puddles) - bad: spaces before and after equals WePage (D=7n1) - bad: lowercase n ¥ Fixed menu incompatibilities The YoYo menu is no longer installed in HyperCard stacks or Connectix QuickCards. 2. Additional items that may be installed Additional extensions are installed if you use certain System Software versions and/or certain computer models: ¥ The Telephone Manager extension is added you have System Software versions older the 7.6. In addition, the System file is updated with the current version of the Telephone manager. ¥ The Macintosh Drag and Drop extension is installed if you use System 7.01 or System 7.1. This extension lets you use YoYoLand's Drag and Drop features. ¥ The ADBReInit extension is installed if you use a PowerBook 140/170 or a Quadra 700/900/950 and are still using the original System Software that came with your computer. This extension fixes an Apple Desktop Bus problem in the Macintosh System Software that can cause crashes. 3. Additional Resources ¥ Text-to-speech announcing Note: You need Apple's PlainTalk software to use this feature. The PlainTalk software is free for Apple Macintosh users and can be downloaded from Apple's Internet web site: http://www.info.apple.com/swupdates Directory path: US Macintosh System Speech PlainTalk or from America Online: Keyword: Apple Directory path: Apple Computer Inc. Apple SW Update Macintosh System Software Download PlainTalk ¥ Apple event scripting You can find more information on YoYoÕs Apple event support in the ÒYoYo AppleScript Read MeÓ file located within the Sample Scripts folder. 4. Compatibility Notes ¥ Dialing while logging onto a server causes the computer to hang Attempting to dial while the ChooserÕs ÒConnect to Shared DiskÓ dialog box is open causes the computer to crash. To avoid this problem, dial after you have logged on to the server. If necessary, move the YoYoLand Dialer/Pager window out of the way to continue the log on process. ¥ Now Super Boomerang version 4.0 Older versions of Now Super Boomerang cause a crash on startup with an error message #28. The problem does not occur with Now Utilities version 6.0. If you see this problem, upgrade your Now Utilities software to version 6.0 or later. ¥ 2000 entry limit in the YoYo Phonebook The YoYo Phonebook has a 2000 person limit. Increasing the memory available to the YoYo Database Mgr application may improve the performance of a large YoYo Phonebook. To increase the Preferred memory size of the YoYo Database Mgr application: 1) Restart your computer and hold the Shift key down to turn off Extensions. 2) Locate the YoYo Database Mgr application by opening the System Folder, then the Extensions Folder, then the Big Island folder, and then the Managers folder. 3) Click the YoYo Database Mgr icon once to select (highlight) it. 4) Choose Get Info from Finder's File menu. 5) Increase the Preferred size. ¥ Extension handset detection There are many factors that adversely affect the ability of YoYo to detect an extension telephone (any telephone that is on the same telephone line as YoYo, but is not connected to the same wall outlet as YoYo) going off-hook. These factors include the number of telephones in your home or business, your telephone types and models, and the telephone line conditions. These factors are beyond our control and there are no solutions to improve the performance of this aspect of the YoYoÕs functionality. 5. Notices Sound Design: Judy Munsen.
