This is the on-line help file for The Basement Bums. Contents: 1) PC specifications 2) Macintosh specifications -- PC specifications -- The minimum recommended PC configuration is as follows: a 486 or newer processor at least 12 MB of RAM a double-speed or faster CD-ROM drive SoundBlaster-compatible sound card an SVGA color display showing 256 colors at 640x480 resolution. If performance seems slow on your machine, make sure you are running no other applications under Windows, such as a word processor, spreadsheet, database, etc. If you are running under Windows 3.1, make sure you are loading no unneccessary TSR's or other real-mode drivers that will absorb "low memory" (i.e., memory under 640K). Use Microsoft DOS's "MemMaker" command to help increase the amount of low DOS memory. This product performs very well under Windows 95. It makes more memory available to the application than does a similarly-equipped Windows 3.1 machine. -- Macintosh specifications -- To use Basement Bums on a Macintosh, you should have at least a 68030 CPU, System 7.1 or newer, at least 12 MB of RAM, a double-speed CD-ROM drive and a color monitor capable of showing 640x480 resolution with 256 colors. Power Macs should have at least 16 MB of RAM. If you experience "choppy" or uneven playback of QuickTime movies, make sure that you have virtual memory disabled in the Memory control panel.
