From: "Knowlden, Robert" <knowlden@ll.mit.edu>
Subject: Arashi 1.1 app

Recently (IM 11-151) the Think C 5.04 source to an update of the classic (IMHO)
arcade game was posted to Sumex. I've done nothing with it other than compile
it. It runs well on a Quadra 700 and an old Mac II with a 19" monitor and a
slow 1024x766 video card (full screen!). I include the application and those
parts of the documentation that I could read with TeachText or Word 5.1.

I'd like to thank Juri Munkki and the others for making this available.

(Obviously, with the possible exception of strategic warfare scenarios, arcade
games have nothing to do with my job or my employer.)

Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

This archive contains only the application for Asterax 1.0.1,
which should fix the problems that owners of older Macs have been
having with memory and sounds.

The problems with multiple monitors persist, and will probably
not be fixed until after final exams.

Support has been added for any monitor size, several parameters
of the game have been changed, and a resource flag has been
added to deactivate the "fade-to-black" which has caused
problems for some people.

Asterax is a production of Arvandor Software.
Feedback to hanson@cs.stanford.edu.

Version 1.0.1 corrects the sound bug that made Asterax unplayable
on slightly older Macs, as well as correcting a number of other
misfeatures people pointed out. Multiple monitors still give
the program trouble, though; we apologize for that problem, and
will work on it when we can.
===========================================================================
Asterax is a single- or multi-player arcade game for Macintosh computers,
growing out of the classic arcade game Asteroids(tm), but with new
strategic elements. Asterax makes use of many features of the modern Macintosh
system, including multiple screen sizes and 4-channel sound.

Features:
---------
Classic arcade action with new strategic elements
Smooth animation on Motorola 680x0 and PowerPC processors
Full support for multiple monitor sizes -- allowing you to actually
use all of your monitor, whether you have a Color Classic or a 21"
multi-sync.
Four-channel sound support
Completely modeled and rendered 3-dimensional graphics

System Requirements:
--------------------
A Macintosh computer with a Motorola 68020, 030, 040, or PowerPC 601
   processor
System 7.0 system software or later
A monitor supporting 16 or 256 colors (multiple monitor support is
  shaky right now)
At least 4 MB of available RAM -- Asterax has been tested on a 4 MB system
using Connectix RamDoubler(tm) without any problems.

Asterax has been successfully tested on machines ranging from a Duo 210 to
a IIvx to a Quadra 800, and all of the PowerMacs (as of May 8th, 1994...)

Asterax is a production of Arvandor Software;

Date: Mon, 4 Oct 93 15:52:13 +0100
From: ingemar@isy.liu.se (Ingemar Ragnemalm)
Subject: Bachman 2.0

This is a new version of my Pacman-style arcade game for the Mac,
with 3D perspective, different levels etc. The game should work on all
Macs and under all system versions, now in color when available.

This version not only adds color, but also fixes the problems with
the game demanding too much memory on some systems. As configured,
it will run with up to 256 colors, and will run even with more if
you give it more memory.

The game is $15 shareware, which gives you the registered version, which
includes the level editor, plus the latest versions of my other games.

Send cash (neatly wrapped) if possible. Most checks and money orders are
pointless since I have to pay high fees (in the order of $12) to cash them.

From: russell@circle.cs.jhu.edu (Russell Schwager)
Subject: BeamWars 2.3.2 update

This file is a refresher version of BeamWars. The latest version is
BeamWars 2.3.2 revision 1a. This version replaces version 2.3.2
revision 1. This is the first revision made to the game since 1992.
The only major difference since the last version is that the computer
opponents are much smarter making the game harder.

This game is similar to the old arcade game called Tron. The game
consists of 4 beams that maneuver aorund the screen. The last one to
die gets a bonus. This goes on for a certain length of time and the
leader in points at the end of the time is the winner. This game has
great graphics, smooth animation and a great soundtrack.

BeamWars requires an '020 or better CPU and a 13" monitor with at
least 16 colors or shades of gray. It looks best in 256-color mode.
BeamWars runs best under System 7, but will also work with System 6.
System 6.0.2 or better is required for sounds to work.

This game is shareware and has a $15 registration fee allow though
there is no "copy-protections" in place. There are no differences in
the registered and non-registered versions.

The author of the game is: Steve Crutchfield
(stevec@jhunix.hcf.jhu.edu) and is a product of Polaris Software.
Suggestions are welcome for the next version which is scheduled to be
out by the end of the summer.

If there are any problems with this file, email:

We at Pangea Software believe in the "old" shareware ideology that shareware
should cost pennies and have no strings attached. Recently Mac shareware fees
have exceeded costs of actual packaged software, and we think that stinks.

For this, our first Mac shareware game, we are only asking: $5

We humbly request that instead of paying us, you send the money to the American
Cancer Society. Please tell them why you are donating, and please write or
email us to tell us if you have donated - we want to know if we are making a
difference. We also are VERY interested in YOUR ideas for future shareware
games. Our survival depends on your support. It is our intention to produce an
entire line of shareware games for the Mac. We are aiming to crank one out
every few weeks, but we need your help. Any assistance you can offer in terms
of ideas, equipment, tech support, etc., would be great!

Please notify us of any bugs (no pun intended) or system incompatibilites so
that future games will work correctly. We are not yet official Apple
developers, so our access to information is limited. Any technical help is
greatly
appreciated.

Copy and distribute this program all you want. Shareware distributors are
authorized to sell this program for no more than $5. Anyone wishing to sell the
program for a higher price must receive written permission from Pangea Software.

HOW TO PLAY

Bloodsuckers is a shooting gallery type game where your goal is to protect your
arm from being sucked into oblivion by hoards of blood-thirsty insects.

The mouse moves your hand around the screen. Press the button to swat at a
bug. On the right of the screen are two meters: a pain meter and a blood
meter. The Pain Meter begins to go up when the first bug bites your arm. It
cannot be stopped. The Blood Meter decreases as long as bugs are sucking on you.
The more bugs there are sucking, the faster the meter goes down. When the
blood meter runs out, you are dead.

Some bugs are easier to hit than others, and some bugs
may take more than one hit to kill. When the screen becomes full of bug guts,
it may be difficult to see that a bug is sucking on your arm.

At the end of each wave you will recieve bonus blood based on your pain meter.
The less pain, the more blood you get.

At the end of each level there is a timed bonus round where you must pick up as
much blood as possible in the given time. You do not need to swat blood, just
wave your hand over it to pick it up.

1.4.2 is a significant change to the previous version(s). I mucked
around with the difficulty levels and made the easiest level easier
for younger players. The hardest level is still pretty hard, but
easier than it was. Also, I fixed a stupid mistake where the sounds
wouldn't play properly on a Mac Plus or earlier.

CheeseToast is a Maelstrom/Asteroids-inspired game I wrote to teach
myself how to do sprite-movement on the Macintosh. I hope you like
it. Feel free to replace the sprites and/or sounds.

This archive contains the (uncommented, undocumented) Think C source
code as an aid to Programmers who are interested in such things.

To run the game, you only need the application "Cheese Toast" and the
file "CT Resources".

CheeseToast requires a color mac with a 12" monitor or larger and
32-bit Quickdraw.

CheeseToast is free. The reason CheeseToast is free is because I
don't have time to a) Polish It and b) Handle technical support or
programming questions.

Please don't include CheeseToast or it's source code in Shareware
collections that cost money without receiving my permission.

If you would like to do a major revision of CheeseToast, let me know!

Changes for version 1.0.1:

Cheese Toast now runs correctly on 12 inch monitors, and it centers
properly on monitors larger than 13 inches.

I fixed an opening audio glitch that was happening on machines with
Sound Mgr 3.0.

Sprite rendering has been sped up a bit.

Rochester, N.Y. -- April 20, 1994 -- Today Ambrosia Software, Inc. (the authors
of Maelstrom) announced the launch of Chiral 1.0.0, its dynamic new $15
chemical conundrum for Macintosh. This latest Ambrosia program is the fruit of
a collaboration between Macintosh developer Trevor Powell and Ambrosia
Software's prolific founder Andrew Welch. Chiral is an amalgamation of high
resolution 256 color graphics, funky digitized sound effects and addictively
puzzling game play.

A fusion between the scientific concept of atomic bonding and the addictive
game play of Tetris, Chiral is based upon the ill fated tale of Molecular
Tendencies Laboratories. After navigating through Ambrosia's user friendly
shareware notice and detailed control panel/title screen a player is confronted
with the molecular arena and a glass vial. Points are scored by positioning
atoms on the screen, building molecules out of the atoms provided.

A doctorate in atomic chemistry is not needed to quickly grasp the strategy of
game play. The number matching concept is very similar to dominoes: An atom
with four dots needs to be aligned with four other atoms.

mission scenarios, several types of flyable aircraft, ability to create
missions, make QuickTime movies of your missions and network dogfights will
make this game a welcome addition to the growing list of Mac flight simulators.

Yeager's Air Combat is expected to start shipping in September.

Thanks to Russell Jordan for e-mailing me the demo.

Enclosed is Cumulonimbus 2.0. This release is already over a year old, but it
hadn't made it to the info-mac archives yet.

C'Nimbus is one of those games in the Tetris genre. There are already enough
of these type of games, but since C'Nimbus 1.0 was the first decent version
available for the Mac, it's only fair that the most recent version be
represented.

The game was developed on a Mac+, so it runs on the Mac+ up, and in color
or color-capable machines. It is 7.0-friendly, has decent sound, and is the
most configurable game in it's class. All this for only $1 shareware!

This program will update Cyclone version 1.2 to version 1.2.1. If you have
version 1.1.1 or earlier, you'll have to either download the entire version
1.2.1 instead of this updater, or you'll have to update to version 1.2 and
then run this updater.

The only change in version 1.2.1 is the fix of an incompatibility with
UnderWare that could cause Cyclone to crash as soon as the main title
screen appears.

High Risk Ventures is proud to present our first shareware game! Cyclone
features way-cool graphics and sound, and addicting and challenging game play.
It's based on an old arcade game called Star Castle, in which you fly a
spaceship on a wrap-around screen, and attack an enemy base sitting in the
middle. The base protects itself with three rotating shield rings, you-
seeking mines, and a nasty plasma cannon. We've added a few things to the
original game, including weapons for your ship, shields, bonus points, a
challenge level, and more. There's also an 'original game' mode for those who
want to play the game as it was originally designed. Rated four joysticks by
Inside Mac Games magazine.

Requires an 8-bit monitor and a 68020 or better.

The file is called deskscan2-patch.sea and is a compactor self-extracting
archive. It includes a ReadMe file and a ResCompare patch program. This
patch program modifies the software provided with Hewlett-Packard scanners
so you can play tetris in the preview window of the scanning utility.

When prompted by the patch program, you select the DeskScan II TWAIN data
source, which is in the TWAIN folder, in the Preferences folder (under
System 7) or in the System Folder (under System 6). After that completes
successfully, you invoke the game by running DeskScan II and pressing
Cmd-Opt-Shift-Click in the preview area of DeskScan II.

This program is not released or sanctioned by Hewlett-Packard. If you
have problems with DeskScan II after performing the patch, please

Diamonds is a game by Oliver Dreer of Switzerland. Basically, it's the
ultimate incarnation of the time honored "bricks" or "break out" game in
which you maneuver a bouncing ball in an effort to remove as many bricks
from the board as possible. Diamonds adds a lot to this basic idea including
very attractive color graphics (it will ONLY work in 256 color mode), multi-
channel sound (if you have System 6.0.7 or better), different types of bricks
that require the use of corresponding flavors of balls, and significantly
more complex and interesting layouts which become progressively more involved
as the game goes on.

Digital Messiah v.2.0
Originally intended for commercial distribution, Digital Messiah is a
shareware game of unparalleled quality. In full form it contains over 3.5
megs of rendered graphics and digitized sound. v.2.0 is a gargantuan
upgrade over the original v.1.0.

The Game
Digital Messiah v.2.0 is an arcade/roleplaying game where you become the
Digital Messiah. In your quests you must battle, in real-time, numerous
enemies each possessing their own weapons and intelligence. You start on
an unknown random map with nothing but your wits to save you. Along the
way you acquire spells of 6 different types, knowledge from townspeople,
and the experience necessary to vanquish the evil Emperor Kang. Your
journeys emerse you in a highly developed virtual world over-ridden by the
consequences of technology.

- 8-bit color photorealistic ray traced graphics for the ultimate in
realism. Light, shadow, and reflection are combined into a vividly
accurate portrait of the Digital Messiah world.

sages, and the numerous minions of Kang.

similar speeds on the entire range of Macintoshes. High-end users that
could not use Digital Messiah due to their computer's speed will now be
able to enjoy the game.
- High-resolution digitized sound is optimized to take advantage of the
Apple internal speaker as well as the full range of frequencies offered by
an externally amplified sound source.
- A full sound control dialog offers a full range of options. Allowing the
user to change the volume and activate/deactivate different categories of
sound.
- Terminal Sunset's brilliant full color interface makes Digital Messiah
easy to use.
- Multiple Key Mapping allows more than one key to be inputed and processed
at a given time. Key Assignment allows the user to set his/her own keys
based on his/her personal preference.
- A fully functional automatic mapping feature which records everything the
Digital Messiah sees and hears in a convenient map window.
- Eight seperate enemies to fight, each with their own spells and intelligence.
- 6 different spell types each with 6 levels of potency to aid in the
Digital Messiah's quest.
- Random map and mission generation give Digital Messiah infinite playability.

pull you into the incredibly vivid world of the Digital Messiah. This is
sure to be one of your best downloads EVER!!!

Best of all the full version of Digital Messiah is available to you. This
is not a demo or a locked application, it is a full and working shareware
game which is playable to the very end. Enjoy...

FS-ATC 2.0

Air Traffic Control software for
Microsoft Flight Simulator Macintosh version 4.0.

FS-ATC is an air traffic controller software that operates with
Microsoft Flight Simulator. It runs on the background and it uses
some undocumented apple events to find out position, direction,
altitude and speed of aircraft. Using this information FS-ATC sends
messages to the pilot using notification manager dialog box or playing
sampled sounds.

This version has been comletely revised. There are lots of new features
like realistic pilot-controller communication, altitude control, more
accurate position tracking, support for sampled sound resources,
and support for the new Speech Manager. There is also a new
instrument for long range navigation.

This version introduces a function key resource (FKEY) that is
installed into Flight Simulator application. Command-Shift-8 key
combination is used as a communication button to simulate pilot's
discussion with tower, center and approach controllers.

There are more flight routes and the old ones have been completely
rewritten. A couple of them are written for SD-series scenery files
by Mallard software. FS-ATC will automatically change sceneries needed
on the route during the flight.

For each route there is a map that opens with TeachText. You can
use the maps to study what the controllers will require you to do.

FS-ATC 2.0 is released as shareware (10 US$). The registered users
will receive documentation for creating controller files of their own.

DISCLAIMER: I'm not a pilot myself, I wrote the program just for fun.
The messages and routes are purely fictional.

Glpyha II
Version 1.1
by john calhoun

Glypha II requires a 13" monitor set at 4-bit display depth.
This is the freeware color sequel to jc's famous black & white
game. Combat flying sphinxes in an Egyptian temple, but beware
the acid pool, the Evil Eye, and the Mummy's Hand. Destroy eggs
before they hatch into new sphinxes for bonus points.

Glypha II is compatible with System 7. (I don't know if it's
Quadra cache compatible.)

Game: Gravity Wars
Author: Rhys Hollow
Freeware.

Gravity Wars is a port of an Amiga game for the Macintosh. It was a
great game, and was for two players, so naturally, I ported it to my
GameMaster system :)

The basic premise of the game is that it is an interstellar version of
"Shoot". You fire your missile at the enemy ship, planets affect the
missile with their gravitational pull, the missile quite often orbits 2
or 3 planets before coming back and hitting you! Fun fun fun.

This is version 1.4.5, suggestions for improvements are welcome.

This is version 1.2 of Happyweed!, a game which is very similar to Pac Man.
The major difference between this and Pac Man is that you go around the board
collecting marijuana leaves, joints, and bongs instead of generic dots and
power pellets. It requires 768K of RAM, a color monitor of size 640x480 or
greater, and System 7. All the bugs should be cleared up now.

HAZARDOUS 1.2 (BIG UPDATE)
is an addictive arcade action game for all Macintosh computers running
System 6.0.7 or higher. It requires at least 600/720K free RAM (B&W/color)
and if you want sound, you'll have to run it under System 7 or higher (if
not, the sound will automagically be disabled). It has been successfully
tested on Mac Plus, SE, SE/30, II, IIcx, IIsi, IIci, LC and LCII computers.
It doesn't seem to work on the Quadra series (tested on the Q800).

NEW IN VERSION 1.2:
o no longer a demo; you get the FULL game
o extra lives are awarded every 25,000 points
o touch a four-leaf clover for luck
o 22 different enemy characters
o demo mode
o toggle sound (with Command-S) during game
o techical: the Sound Manager is reinitialized after every level and at the
beginning of every game, to solve Sound Manager problems
o technical: the 'QuitApplication' Apple Event is now supported.

#### BINHEX hemiroids-11.hqx ****

From: ansorge@netcom.com (Sean Ansorge)
Subject: HemiRoids 1.1
Date: Wed, 22 Dec 1993 10:55:58 -0800 (PST)

HemiRoids is yet another Asteroids workalike, and is free; see "Legal
Stuff", at the end of this document.

HeimRoids started as an educational effort on my part, to see how you
get a Mac to draw bright colors on the screen and play annoying sounds
at the same time. Whee! It has since of course become a cult smash and a
public nuisance, netting me hundreds of e-mail messages and almost ten
minutes of fame.

After many an e-mail about crashes when running on AV Macs, or indeed
anything using Sound Manager 3.0, I've finally gotten around to a few
fixes, and wouldn't you know it, I didn't stop at new sound code. See
the change history below for a semi-complete list.

REQUIREMENTS: System 6.0.7 or later, 8-bit color, enough memory to give
it an 1200K partition, and 32-bit QuickDraw. 32-bit QuickDraw is in the
ROMs on machines built after the IIci, and included in System 7 on all
machines; if you have a IIcx, IIx or II with System 6 it's an extension
you need to add. I've run HemiRoids with VM on, and as long as enough
"real" RAM is around to page HemiRoids in completely it should work but
no guarantees there.

This has been tested on a variety of Quadras, an LCII, IIci, IIcx, IIfx
and IIsi, all the Centris machines, AV Macs, PowerBook Duo 270c and
PowerBook 180c, and maybe even a PowerPC or two but I can't talk about
that, on-board video and Apple 8- and 24-bit video boards, in 32-bit
addressing and 24-bit addressing, Virtual Memory on and off. I haven't
had the opportunity to test it with a vast variety of exotic video
boards, so if you have problems with something unusual please let me
know. If you have a video accelerator, you may have to turn it off to
run HemiRoids (or a lot of other games), but wouldn't swear to this.

I'd like to thank all the folks who sent me bug reports so far. If you
find anything else, please let me know! Any comments are appreciated,
even if it's just to say how much HemiRoids stinks. Come to think of it,
I don't appreciate those as much as fawning praise, but still, it's good
to get mail, and I am usually in a mood to write a few pages back. Just
remember; HemiRoids is free, so be kind to animals.

HemiRoids was nominated for the 1993 MacUser ShareWare award for best
shareware entertainment product, but it lost to Maelstrom and Bolo,
which is pretty much what I expected, but hey, it was nice to be
nominated, especially in the company of such products that were so
obviously the result of so much work, and just to make this sentence
even longer I'd like to say hi to my mom. Hi.

I'm working on a new game which if things go well will be released
commercially some time next year. It's one heck of a lot more fun than
HemiRoids, so look for it when it comes out. The current title is
PegLeg, and that probably won't change `cause I really like it.

Enjoy,

Sean Ansorge
ansorge@netcom.com

Version 1.1:
12/21/93
* Replaced old sound code (which was incompatible with Sound Manager
3.0, and hence the AV Macs) with all-new by-the-rules sound code stolen
from another game I'm working on. The new sound routines favor Sound
Manager 3.0, and if it's around you get 3-channel sound. If not, you
only get 1 channel, which isn't as nice.
* Replaced some of the artwork, just `cause I got sick of looking at it.
* Replaced some of the sounds, just `cause I got sick of listening to
them.
* Added a new whiz-bang visual effect that is sure to increase your
enjoyment of this fine game by orders of magnitude.
* Debris from space ship explosions now has a lifespan; after a few
seconds is spontaneously dies on its own.
* Considered adding code that would pick an 8-bit monitor that isn't the
main monitor, but got too lazy.
* Added love and devotion, stirred for twenty minutes, and baked in a
pre-heated oven at 350 degrees for an hour.
* No, it really didn't take 8 months to make these fixes, but I do have
day job.

Version 1.0.9:
4/4/93:
* Can't leave well enough alone
* Made collision detection code more efficient
* Fixed some drawing bugs
* Huh? Version 1.0.9? I never saw that one! Okay, so I never posted it,
but I did send it to some people.

Version 1.0.8:
3/27/93:
* Changed e-mail address in splash screen text
* Improved debris-generating algorithm; animation should not jerk when
ships blow up now
* Passed the right value to Juri's sound code, so maximum volume setting
is now available.

Version 1.0.7:
2/26/93:
* Added System 6 support (had to change 1 whole line of code...)
* Added debris for alien explosions
* Made collisions less bouncy

Version 1.0.6:
2/21/93:
* Changed & added sounds

Version 1.0.5:
2/20/93:
* Added stars to background
* Added debris resulting from ship explosion

Version 1.0.4:
2/17/93:
* Fixed the 24-bit addressing incompatibility. Thanks, Juri!
* Added special screen-flash effect during smart bomb useage

Version 1.0.3:
2/16/93:
* Checks to make sure hardware is 8-bit color capable before trying to
set screen to 8 bits deep (sorry PowerBook users)
* Added a flicker effect when ship is thrusting

Version 1.0.2:
2/16/93:
* Enhancement to improve speed on low-end machines; should now run full
30 fps on LC or IIsi.
* When launched on 68000 machines, provides an alert informing the user
that B&W systems are not supported.
* When launched in 24-bit addressing mode, alerts user that 32-bit
addressing is currently required.

Version 1.0.1:
* 2/10/93: Fixed window-positioning bug that resulted in the bottom 20
pixels of the playing area being offscreen on 13" monitors.

Version 1.0:
* February 10, 1993. I finally got enough time to finish debugging my
custom blit routines, so here it is. Have fun!

Jetpack is an arcade action game -- fly through mazes looking for fuel and keys
and avoiding hazards.

>From the Read Me file:

System Requirements:
-- 68020 or better
-- Color Quickdraw
-- 256 colors
-- Sound Manager 3.0 recommended but not required
-- 1.3M memory

Jetpack is 32-bit clean, System 7 compatible, supports required Apple Events,
and is background friendly.

How to Play:

In Jetpack, you control a little blue-suited man wearing a jetpack. The
little man can walk left or right, and can turn on his jetpack to fly upwards.

You must guide your little man through a series of dangerous mazes. Why? I
dunno. My next game will have a qool story.

Anyway, you start each maze at a door, and must walk and fly through the maze
to find a key. Your jetpack uses fuel for thrust, so you must replenish your
fuel supply by picking up fuel pods that are scattered around the maze. Once
you have the key, return to the door and you will travel to the next maze.

Of course, it isn't that easy, since there are things in the maze that can kill
you. There are three kinds of nasties: Guards, Wall Sweepers, and Fireballs.
Guards randomly patrol the centers of the corridors. Wall Sweepers travel
along the walls. Fireballs bounce around off the walls. Touch any of these
and you're dead. No, you don't have any weapons. Just avoid the nasties, get
the fuel and the key, and get out.

Shareware:

Jetpack is shareware -- it may be freely distributed, but not for profit.
Please register your copy by sending me a check for $10 and a 1.44MB disk.
When you register I will send the disk back with a copy of the level editor and
some other level files. If you prefer, I can e-mail them to you instead if you
have an account on the internet. If you register, all bugfixes and updates are
free. If you can't afford $10, or you are filthy rich and want to heavily
support shareware programming, send me what you think the game is worth.

Jewelbox is a puzzle game similar to Columns or Tetris but with
different game play and scoring. The game features 256 color
graphics, original sounds and soundtrack, many levels of play,
online help, and a practice mode. The graphics are very detailed
and colorful. The jewels are all faceted and are quite beautiful
(in my opinion of course :-). The soundtrack has been described
as enchanting and hypnotic by people who have heard it.
Complete documentation is included with the archive.

Jewelbox requires 8-bit color capability, a 13" color monitor
(or larger), 2MB of free memory, and System 6.0.5 or later
(6.0.7 or 7.0 if you want to hear the background soundtrack).

Jewelbox is shareware with a requested fee of $10 (US).
This is a binhexed, self-extracting Compact-Pro archive.

Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

Although the version numbers of this file have not changed, Ambrosia has
added a product list and 800 number service information to this archive.

This updater only works if you already have Maelstrom 1.3 or later; if you
have an earlier version of Maelstrom, you need to download the complete
Maelstrom 1.4.0 package.

This updater brings Maelstrom 1.3.x up to Maelstrom 1.4.0, the latest version
which contains a few minor bug fixes and adds a few features.

Maelstrom 1.4.0 adds an oft-requested personalization capability for
registered users, and now uses our new 4 channel sound system, Ambrosia Sound
Tool (AST). This allows for high-speed sound playing with four simultaneous
sounds playing at any one time, adding to the game's sonic appeal.

Updating is recommended, but not essential.

Funky Maelstrom Sounds version 1.2
----- --------- ------
This is version 1.2 of my Funky Maelstrom Sounds file. It contains alternate
sounds for the wholly nifty shareware game Maelstrom. Previous versions of this
file won't work with the newest version of Maelstrom (version 1.2). So I
tweaked the funky sounds to work with the newest version.

MODERATORS: please replace the old Maelstrom-funky-sounds (somewhere in the
games directory) with this version.

Instructions:
1. Download the file. Read the README.
2. Rename the old "Maelstrom Sounds" file in your Maelstrom directory to
something like "Maelstrom Sounds (old)".
3. Move the funky sounds file to your Maelstrom directory.
4. Play!

Enjoy. These sounds are free, but I emplore you to send in your shareware fee
for Maelstrom to Andrew Welch.

Dear Moderator:

This submission should replace /info-mac/game/maelstrom-martin-sounds.hqx
in the archive. The new version of maelstrom (1.2) requires sounds samples at
11kHz, so the maelstrom sounds I posted a while back no longer work with
maelstrom 1.2. I downsampled the sounds and the enclosed file can be
used with the new version of maelstrom. Just move (or rename) your old
maelstrom sound file and put this file in your maelstrom folder. You
will need to increase maelstroms memory size (in the Get Info box) to
around 3000K. Then play, and have fun!

--========================_14919984==_
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

Greetings...

I am contacting you to submit an updater for my game, The Missions of
Starship Reliant! The updater will convert version 1.0 of the game to
version 1.1.

I submitted it to America Online a few days ago, so someone there may have
tried submitting it to you already. There is no difference between this
file and the one uploaded to America Online.

Feedback from those who downloaded it revealed some problems which are
addressed in this update. These are:

- Problems on some machines running System 7.1. This is corrected by
Apple's Hardware System Update extension version 2.0.1 or later. An Apple
representative has given me permission to distribute a copy of this
extension with my game, as long as the ReadMe file is included. I am
including it with the update since so many people wrote to me about the
problem.
- Problems on systems with multiple monitors. Version 1.0 would crash on
some systems with two or more monitors, particularly if the startup screen
is monochrome. Version 1.1 fixes but does not solve the problem entirely.
The new version will no longer crash on multiple monitor systems, but will
only run if the color-capable monitor is the startup screen. Otherwise, an
alert box will notify the user of this.
- Potential problems with Paramount. Since some sounds were taken from Star
Trek, these were replaced with original sounds. Also, the term "phaser" was
replaced with a different name.

Some other minor problems were also fixed; all changes are summarized in a
Read Me file that comes with the update.

A short description of the game and update follows, and should be used for
archiving purposes. After that is the Binhexed file. Thanks for your
consideration.

-------------
May 1994

This is a minor update to the space action/strategy game, "The Missions of
Starship Reliant!". A brief description of the game and the updates made to
version 1.0 follow.

The Missions of Starship Reliant! v1.1
a game by Michael Rubin

EPISODE I: Assault on the Alliance

So, you think you have what it takes to be a starship captain?

Introducing The Missions of Starship Reliant!, a game that combines the
swift action of an arcade game with the challenge of commanding a ship and
its crew into battle.

Unlike many action games, Missions! is more than a shoot-em-up; it requires
careful strategy, interaction with your crew members, and the skill
necessary to juggle the ship and its crew when confronted by a sudden,
fierce attack by the enemy.

Missions! uses three-dimensional objects rendered in 256 colors for a more
realistic look, and achieves smooth animation through the use of Ingemar
Ragnemalm's Sprite Animation Toolkit, an excellent programmer's library for
making sprite-based animation which is available on the Internet. Also, it
employs a unique "jigsaw puzzle" approach to create hundreds of different
crew members for each game.

Missions! requires an 8-bit color-capable Mac running System 7, and a 13"
or larger monitor. It also should have 3 Mb free RAM and occupies 1.7 Mb of
disk space.

** Updates in version 1.1 **

- Due to possible problems with Paramount, some sounds have been replaced
with new, original sounds. Also, the name "phaser" has been replaced by
"laser cannon".
- The alert box that appears when the game is launched while not in 256
colors has been fixed.
- The screen fade out routines have been removed. They cause problems on
some machines.
- The game should now be able to run without crashing on machines with
multiple monitors. However, to play the game, the color monitor should be
made the startup monitor.
- The documents have been modified so they will print properly.
- With Apple's permission, I am including a copy of the Hardware System
Update extension (version 2.0.1). This version (or later) is needed on some
machines, the Centris 610 in particular, when running System 7.1.

A copy of the version 1.1 updater will be sent to all registered users. Enjoy!

I would like to submit a new Macintosh game I have recently finished. The
game, MongoPong, runs on any Mac II or higher with a color or grey scale
monitor. If you list descriptions then...

------------------------------------------------------
Like the ancient computer game "Pong", two players (or one against the
computer) use paddles to keep balls out of their goals. MongoPong adds
bumpers, tubes, moving goals, multiple balls, opponent freezing, and a whole
lot more to breathe new life into this classic genre.
------------------------------------------------------

The author, myself, is John O'Fallon, and the game is a $10 shareware
product. Any other questions can be directed to me at:

ofalloj@macmail.mcgawpark.baxter.com

I know you are probably swamped with work, but if possible, I would like a
note letting me know where it has been posted. This is just me being curious
and is in no way a requirement for posting.

Thanks for helping us shareware authors hawk our wares, your efforts are
sincerely appreciated!

Morpion v1.0.0 is a simple solitaire game, initially designed
by Henri Lamiraux. I saw it on a friends Newton and decided to
write a Mac version (mostly to get out of watching some really
boring videos that were on at the time).

The goal of Morpion is to draw as many horizonatal, vertical
or diagonal line segments as possible. A segment can be drawn
by using five existing dots or by adding a fifth dot to four
existing dots.

Morpion requires System 6 or 7, and is free.

Before, I uploaded a hacked version of the Pac-Man game which allowed

apparently software which has been modified by someone other than the author
is not allowed.
So, I'm sending a textfile which allows the user to fix their own

the hacked copy more secure! It will now only start in the "correct" situation,
that is, when it won't bomb or crash.

Subject: Pac-Man

This is an arcade replica of the game "Pac-Man" by M. Tsuji. It's been
out for a while; I believe you had it before. However, it had a bug which would
not allow you to play it on any monitor with a size other than 640x480. With
smaller monitors, this was correct; however, with larger monitors, it would not
run even though there were no problems.
I have patched a small segment of code that will allow play on any
monitor size (and depth). Be forewarned, though: playing with the wrong color
depth WILL cause you to crash, 100% certain! I've never tried it with monitors
smaller than 640x480, but I wouldn't be surprised if that crashed too. But for
those of you who want to play PacMan on a larger screen, this is for you.

dialog.)

Subject: Patriot Command 1.1 Submission

Dear Archive Administrator,

Enclosed please find a binhqx'ed Compact Pro archive of Patriot Command 1.1's
release. Please replace any previous versions in your archive's game
directory with this version.

Patriot Command is an implementation of a (once) popular arcade
classic. The object of the game is to protect world cities from an
onslaught of ICBMs and other nasties that an unnamed whimsical
fascist dictator decided to launch against the world. The worlds only
defenses are three Patriot missile silos which you command. Each
Patriot missile is capable of creating an explosion large and powerful
enough to destroy any enemy objects that are engulfed by it.

Patriot Command requires a Mac II or better (020, 030, or 040 Mac)
with a 640x400 or larger 256-color/grayscale monitor and 32-bit
Color Quickdraw. It runs on System versions 6.0.7 and later as well
as A/UX 3.0. It may be run in either 24-bit or 32-bit memory
manager mode. Patriot Command has been tested and verified to
work on the IIcx, IIsi, IIci, LCIII, IIfx, Quadra 700, and Quadra 800.
Sorry, but at this time, Patriot Command will not run on Macs with
the Apple 12 color monitor or the Color Classic. If there is enough
interest, a version for smaller screen color Macs and Powerbooks
with 16 grayscale monitors may be released in the future.

If you like this game, please register your copy by sending in the
registration form (select "Print Registration Form..." from the Apple
menu) along with the $15/copy shareware fee to the below address.
International users (Including Canada), please send in cash since my
bank does not accept foreign checks. Thank you for your support.

			Version History

Version 1.1 - Maintenance Release

Fixed the Tokyo city icon to prevent enemy missiles from exploding when hitting the Japanese flag

Fixed window update routine so that the appropriate cursor is set when an update event occurs

Fixed a problem that caused fatal crashes when running under the 24-bit memory manager

Fixed a bug that could cause smart bombs to vanish before reaching the ground

Fixed a bug that could cause smart bombs to go off screen

Improved explosion updates to be more uniform when there are many objects on the screen

Made some adjustments to the game difficulty to make it slightly harder (many people thought that 1.0 was too easy even when the difficulty was set to hard). I can already guess one future comment: Now it is too hard!!! 8^) Seriously, though, please let me know what features/modifications youd like to see in future versions of Patriot Command. I'll do my best to implement as many of your suggestions as possible.

Changed the code so that shield and split icons are not displayed in the demo screen after aborting a game

Fixed a bug that could cause the game to hang if the starting level was selected while Game Over was being displayed, immediately followed by pressing the space bar

Fixed a bug that would cause portions of destroyed silos to reappear when an enemy missile or smart bomb hit the destroyed site

Modified the auto-silo select code to select the closest non-empty silo when the player uses the mouse button to fire

Added code to accelerate enemy missiles and smart bombs when the player is out of missiles

Modified city icon selection code to ensure that all city icons are unique at any given time

Modified the code to prevent shield usage after the Nuke bonus is shot

Added a limit to the number of missiles/bombs that a bomber can drop

Fixed a bug that could cause the game start sound to get mangled

Pentris 1.1 should replace Pentris 1.0

Pentris is a Tetris-like game that uses pentominoes instead of tetraminoes
(that is 5-squares pieces instead of 4-squares pieces). This makes the game a
lot more challenging.
This game requires System 7 or later and Color QuickDraw. Therefore, it's not
compatible with the Macintosh Plus, SE and Classic.

This game has a shareware fee of 12$US, but you can send any amount (more or
less) you want.

I grant the info-mac archive administrators the right to include Pentris
on their CD-ROM.

Here is version 2.0.0 of Pierkiroul, a very addicting game.
You control a man who has to push boulders and get pieces of
gold to find the exit.
Version 2.0.0 works on monochrome and color Macintoshes under
system 6.0.7 or later (but sound is only available under system
7 or later).
Pierkiroul version 2.0.0 is Freeware.

From: STH@eclx.psu.edu
Subject: Poly-RC 1.01

Poly-RC is a game with falling rows and columns. The objective is to stay in game by removing blocks. Although it looks similar to Polytris, it is a different game.
Rows or columns with 1 to 4 squares drop from top and stop when they hit the dropped blocks or bottom. The squares can be removed by arranging them sequences of 3 or more of the same color horizontally, vertically or diagonally.
Poly-RC is more challenging because it has rows and columns with 1 to 4 squares, bombs, weights and radiation. Depending on your skill, you can adjust the difficulty of the game.
Minor bug was fixed in version 1.01.

    Triiiiiiis iiiiiiis back!!!!
Polytris is a game with falling polyomino blocks, 1 to 5 connected square
blocks. The objective is to stay in game by removing rows.
Polytris is more challenging because it has 29 kinds of blocks, bombs, weights
and water balloons. Depending on your skill, you can adjust the difficulty of
the game. It can be configured as from 'Someone's Tetris' to 'Ultra Super Duper
Extra Tris Plus Twenty-two'. (I never tried this one.)
In version 1.03, for slower color Macs, simple block pictures are added to speed
up animation. More bugs are fixed.

Recently released on AOL: Quagmire, by Tony Small.

Requires System 7, and runs best in 8-bit color (it works in
B&W too, but it looks lousy). Shareware, $10.

Quagmire is a Dark Castle type of game. You control a small
robot who can run, jump, climb, crouch, shoot, etc, and your
goal is to guide him through level and level of traps,
pitfalls, and assorted nasties out to get you.

I am in no way involved with the people who created this game.
I'm just passing it along to the Internet archives. It was
originally uploaded from America Online.

    RESCUE! 2.0 - RELEASE NOTES =20
=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=

Rescue! 2.0 is the latest version of the multi-window, color-capable=
 action
adventure written by Tom Spreen and inspired by the Star Trek: The=
 Next
Generation=81 universe!  It's a fast-action rescue mission set in=
 space which
requires both strategy and arcade-style reactions.

This version is a major upgrade with many changes and improvements.=
  (Note
that full on-line help is available if you're not familiar with one=
 of the
earlier versions.)
=20
--- REQUIREMENTS ---

Rescue! is now compatible with System 6. The program will run on=
 ANY
Macintosh with System 6.0.7 or later. (for maximum speed and visual
enjoyment you'll want a color Mac with a 68030 or faster CPU.)

The game requires about 1.3 MB of hard disk space, and 2.6 MB of=
 available
memory in which to run. (Black & white users need only 1 MB available
memory.)

Rescue! 2.0 has been tested compatible on several Macs including=
 the
Macintosh SE, LC II, LC III, LC 475 and 575, Mac II, IIx, IIci, IIfx,=
 IIvx,
Centris 610 & 650, Quadra 840AV, Power Macintosh 6100/60, and Power
Macintosh 8100/80AV.

--- MAJOR BUG FIXES ---

* Slowdown problems which occurred in version 1.6 and earlier have=
 been
completely fixed; Rescue! 2.0 now requires less memory than these=
 earlier
versions and may be left running as long as you like.

* Sounds play smoothly and without the occassional screeches or scratches
which would occur in earlier versions.

--- CHANGES AND IMPROVEMENTS ---

* Enhanced graphics and sounds! All of the graphics have been revamped=
 and
have a larger, higher quality look. Plus, there's extra sounds to=
 add to
the feel of the game.

* More races! Now present in the game (if you want them) are new=
 races
based on the Ferengi, Cardassians, Klingons, and even the Borg...=
  There
are also asteroids of various sizes randomly wandering through the=
 galaxy.

* Customizable Missions! A new Mission Setup dialog lets you create=
 your
own custom mission, or select from four preset missions.

* Heads Up Display for the Main Viewer showing commonly needed statistics
on the Enterprise.

* Evasive maneuvers when you need them. There are three different
preprogrammed maneuvers.

* Enhanced Chase mode lets you chase nearest, strongest, or weakest=
 enemy;
nearest friendly; nearest asteroid; or find nearest wormhole.

* Option to have the computer automatically snap on the shields when=
 an
enemy is nearby, and also automatically lock on to the nearest enemy
vessel.

* Improved tracking abilities when auto-seeking a destination; no=
 more
erratic, winding paths to planets and starbases.

* Improved weapons and targeting systems; your ability to fire on=
 a target
now depends on your distance from it, rather than the size of the=
 Main
Viewer. You can also now target (and fire on) ANYTHING if you so=
 choose.

* Sensor scan now has three levels of intensity:
- low (detects vessels, starships and planets)
- med (detects vessels, starships, planets, and asteroids)
- high (detects vessels, starships, planets, asteroids and most cloaked=
 ships)

* The MENUS have changed significantly. If you're used to the menu=
 layout
in version 1.6 or earlier, be sure to browse through version 2.0's=
 menus
for a while and have a look at the changes and additions. Some changes
have also been made to the command-key equivalents! You'll note=
 especially
that the Computer menu has changed a lot, with many new features=
 available.

* Lots of new keyboard commands and key equivalents for often-used=
 commands:
H - toggle Heads Up Display=
 (HUD)
(color users: keep hitting 'H' to select different HUD colors)
Z - hot key to zoom the Main=
 Viewer
in & out
, and . - increase or decrease warp factor or impulse speed
[ and ] - increase or decrease phaser intensity
{ and } - increase or decrease torpedo salvo
- and + - increase or decrease scan intensity

* Many other additional changes and improvements have been made.=
  Let me
know what you think!
If you have any suggestions or bug reports, please drop me a line!=
  Your
inputs were an essential part of the enhancement process for version=
 2.0.

--- COMPATIBILITY PROBLEMS ---

With earlier versions of Rescue! there have been reports of reduced=
 game
performance when AlSoft's DiskExpress II v2.2 is running in the background.
If you have this software, it is recommended that you turn the DiskExpress
control panel OFF before beginning the game.

The Mobius '030 Accelerator for Mac SE (Mobius Init 4.99) has been=
 found to
cause sound problems with Rescue! on a Mac SE.

Sigma Design's Power Portrait SCSI monitor (Init v2.0.2) can cause=
 screen
junk to appear during game play, with occasional crashes.

--- DISTRIBUTION AND LEGAL STUFF ---

Rescue! may not be distributed for profit. Non-profit distribution=
 of
Rescue! is acceptable and encouraged, providing that the software=
 is not
modified in any way, and this read me file always accompanies the=
 program.=20
If you're including Rescue! as part of a shareware or other commercial
package, drop me a line to let me know who you are and how you're
distributing it.

Star Trek=81 is Paramount's property, not mine. As such, I've decided=
 that
in the spirit of "doing the right thing" and in the interest of keeping
Rescue! lawyer-friendly, I've removed any direct references to Star=
 Trek=81
names such as Romulan, Picard etc. and replaced them with substitute=
 names.
These substitute names are certainly not as satisfying as having=
 the "real
thing", but since the names are only occasionally referred to anyway=
 in the
course of a game, I've found that this take only a little away from=
 the
enjoyment of the program. I've also modified the sounds to be a=
 bit less
Trek-like.

--- WHERE TO REACH ME ---

Rescue! is shareware. If you like the game and decide to keep it,=
 please
register your copy by sending $10.00 in US or Canadian funds to the=
 address
below. Thanks! This entitles you to free upgrades, plus a hint=
 (if you
ask for it) on how to kill a certain cube-shaped ship...

Cheques written on US or Canadian banks are acceptable, as are money=
 orders.

two was the newer version with additional features. When I sent the second
I had assumed that the first was never received (since I got no
confirmation, and couldn't find it on UMICH archives...) - so I neglected

This is a new version of Slime Invaders, a shoot-em-up arcade game for
the Mac. It is Space Invaders-style, with a gun at the bottom, and various
enemies attacking from above. You move your gun sideways and shoot down
nasties as fast as you can while avoiding to get hit. Complete with a modest
assortment of silly enemies - as there should be in a game like this.

The game should work on all Macs. Several options are included to choose
between compatibility and speed, most notably the choice between Quickdraw
and direct-to-screen drawing. Macs slower than IIsi should use the latter
if possible.

Now in COLOR when available (but don't worry, it still runs on my old SE),
and with the SLIMY COD IN A TOASTER! (Fix from 2.0 to 2.0.1: the toaster
now appears in all games, not just the first after loading.)

Free for personal use. Consider paying the $15 for my shareware pack
(7 games including Bachman, MacSokoban etc) if you think it's fun.

- A color or grayscale display with at least 16 colors and a minimum size of
512x384 pixels.
- At least 350Kb to run.

This is a mac version of the classic arcade game spacewar. Possibly the only
game that came before this is pong. Lately people on comp.system.mac.games
have been asking for a game like this, so here it is. The date on it is 1988,
but it seems to be fully system 7 compatable. If your not familiar with
spacewar, in this game you control a small ship in a manner similar to
Asteroids. You score points by shooting another ship, and loose points
whenever you are hit. There are options for gravity, friction, wrap around
wall, wheather shots are effected by gravity, and wheather there is a
hyperspace in the middle of the screen. Unfourtunately, there is no 2 player
mode. It does not explicitly state that it is shareware, but I assume it
it. If it is discovered that this is not shareware, remove it from your
archives. b&w.

Hello,

Please find enclosed in this mail my submission of StarRunner Plus (v1.4).
This version of StarRunner replaces all other versions (namely 1.2).

StarRunner Plus is a Defender-like kind of game. It has the same
requirements as 1.2, i.e. it only runs on Macs w/ a 68020 or higher which
is not too big of a restriction nowadays. And yes, it's still B/W but it's
much cooler than 1.2. There's a lot of new features, most of which are
documented in the ReadMe file that's included in the package.

Thanks.

Trawling BBSs in the UK....

This is StarStormer 0.24 - a 256-colour 13" shoot-em-up.
It's NOT 32-bit clean, and incomplete, but what there is of it
is quite impressive.

Has anyone seen a later version?

One could make a strong argument for such a brag! If you enjoy
SuperColumns, be sure to send in the registration fee to encourage
Michael Dean to create other high quality games. If you really,
really, really, really, really, really, like Tetris type games, call
up a mail order house and order the product Tetris Gold CD-ROM which
contains all the versions of Tetris so far released for DOS, Mac and
Windows on a single CD. Included on that disc for the Mac are: Tetris,
Wordtris, Welltris, Faces...Tris III, and Super Tetris.

Version 1.0
by Joe Fleck

Requires 020 or better, 256 colors, 14" or greater monitor.

1-2 players

TechnoManiac is a three-dimensional game using vector graphics
a la Arashi. You control a hovering tank (movement,
turret, rotation and thrust values) to destroy your opponent.
You can play against the computer or against another person
on the same Macintosh. There are two modes of play; a fast
paced mode, where you essentially shoot what you will,
and a turn-based mode, where you take turns, monitoring
your energy supply.

All in all, a blast, if I do say so myself.

The following is a compact pro archive containing "Tetris Light".
This is a lightweight implementation of Tetris. It does not
require any fancy features (e.g. 256 colours) to run. It is
released free of charge under the GNU General Public License.

Subject: Tetris Max Stereo Music file
Date: Sat, 26 Feb 1994 19:54:48 -0600 (CST)

If you are a fan of Tetris Max 2.3, and have a stereo Mac,
then you are bound to wish for stereo background music to
supplement that which was supplied, especially if you have your
Mac connected to a stereo sound system.
Tetris Max 2.3 allows you to select your background music.
I was impressed with one of the selections, moaned over the fact
that it was not in stereo, and decided to replace it with a stereo
version.
This contribution supplements the "Alternate Music" sound file
provided by Tetris Max 2.3. After deHEXing and unstuffing it with StuffIt
Expander, place it in your Tetris Max Music folder, boot the game, use the
'select background music option', click on the file you just placed in the
folder and enjoy the game.
As an added benefit, the fidelity is much better than the
original Alternate Music file (no added hiss, distortion,
rasp, and other attributes of over-driven sound input).
NOTE: You should increase Tetris Max 2.3's preferred memory
allocation to 2,000 from the original 1200.
This file was pieced together on a Mac LC475 using Movie Player,
Sound Extractor and the Apple CD300 CD ROM drive.

Honorably mentioned in the 1993 MacUser Shareware Awards, favorably
reviewed in numerous books and magazines, guaranteed to get you
addicted... it's Tetris Max! Tetris Max is an outstanding implementation
of the classic game Tetris, featuring beautiful 256-color artwork, an
original music soundtrack, awesome sound effects, and more. Find out why
many people say Tetris Max is the best Tetris they've ever played.
Tetris Max is $10 shareware (free for those people who've paid for
previous versions).

If you enjoy Tetris Max and play it often, PLEASE send in the $10
shareware fee. It is not very much compared to the cost of a commercial
game, and it motivates me to keep improving Tetris Max as well as to
work on new games. By even the most optimistic estimate, less than 2% of
the people who have older versions of Tetris Max have actually sent in
the shareware fee. If you play, please pay.

New in version 2.3:
% works in 16 colors/grays (for powerbooks and others)
% level 10 is now a little tougher
% new "faster left/right motion" option
% background music is selectable from GetFile dialog
% arrow keys can be used
% miscellaneous minor fixes and enhancements

3d Brick Bash! is a three-dimensional version of the old break-out game.
Version 1.1 replaces previous versions.

It requires:	Color Quickdraw, System 6.0.5+ or 7.0+, 68020 CPU or greater,
and 1,300K free memory to run in 256 colors (only 800K for 16,4, or 2 color).

New features: enhancements to make levels progress faster...
you can influence the ball speed, start play on any level previously
reached, and random targets appear from time-to-time which award goodies.
The ball generally moves and accelerates faster than before (unless you
turn this off.)

Not least, several bug fixes and an address change, too.

Shareware. *Free for users who registered for previous versions.*

Dear Maccers,

I submit a copy of a game I recently wrote. It's called "Trojka" and it
packs the thrill of Tetris and the combinations of Columns into one
attractive game. The sounds are cool, too.

It was tested on Classic and on a Performa 400 and works in both color
and black & white. Trojka needs at least 500k of memory and preferably
system 7 or later to run. The program comsumes about 400k on your disk.

More documentation is included in the package.

Moderators: you may include this humble program on some CD-ROM if you
like.

*** Xenos =A91993 by JECO Software ***

INTRODUCTION:
Xenos is an action packed game that is similar to the arcade
classic Xevious from Atari. It has smooth scrolling and
asynchronous sounds. I wrote this game for the Macintosh to
sharpen my programming skills and to create a fast-pace game. I
used Think C 4.05 and ResEdit to create it. Please let me know
what you think of it. I know the graphics could be spiced up a
bit, but the level of my artistic skills go as far as drawing
stick people.

A complete Xenos package includes:
*Xenos Read me*
Xenos program
Game files
 =20
Xenos is FREEWARE. If anybody would like to have Xenos, you may
give him/her a copy, but the package must be complete with all
files listed above.

REQUIREMENTS:
This game requires 1500k of ram to run safely, must run on at
least a MacII, System 7.0 or higher, 32-bit QuickDraw, and at
least a 13" Color monitor capable of displaying 16 colors. I'll
try to get a System 6.0.7 version out, but my sound routines
dont like anything earlier than 7.0.
