Standard Hardware Requirements ******************************************************************* Window95® DVD-ROM* Windows95 required 166Mhz Pentium® or faster 16MB RAM Minimum 70MB hard disk space Generation 2 DVD-ROM drive or newer 640x480 display, High Color Sound Blaster 16 or Sound Blaster 16-bit 100% compatible sound card Video and Sound cards compatible with DirectX** MPEG-2® Video Decoder required to view video trailers and other non-game play related video content. *System Configuration: May require minor adjustments to the configuration of your operating system and/or updates to the hardware component drivers. **If you experience problems with the installation or compatibility of DirectX on your computer, please consult the hardware manufacturers of your video or sound card for the latest drivers compatible with DirectX. Installation ******************************************************************* To Install Begin at the Windows 95 desktop. Insert the Journeyman 3 DVD-ROM into your DVD-ROM drive. The Journeyman Project 3: Legacy of Time Startup window will appear. Click the Install button and follow the on-screen instructions to install the program. If the Journeyman Project 3: Legacy of Time Startup window does not appear automatically on screen, you can install the program manually: Click the Start button on the taskbar and choose Run. Type D:\SETUP.EXE in the line labeled Open. (If your DVD-ROM drive uses a letter other than D, substitute that letter for D.) Click the OK button and follow the on-screen instructions to install Journeyman Project 3: Legacy of Time. To Play After successfully installing the program, click the Run button at the Startup window to start the program. The Startup window will usually appear each time the DVD-ROM disc is inserted into the DVD-ROM drive. If the Journeyman Project 3: Legacy of Time Startup window does not appear automatically on screen: Begin at the Windows 95 desktop. Click the Start button, point to Programs, Red Orb Entertainment, and then Journeyman Project 3: Legacy of Time DVD. Click the Legacy of Time menu item to start the program. About the AutoPlay Dialog The Startup window will appear each time the DVD-ROM is inserted into the DVD-ROM drive. If you prefer Journeyman Project 3: Legacy of Time to launch without seeing this screen, click the check box at the bottom of the Startup window marked "Show this window next time you insert the DVD-ROM" so that the check mark is removed. The next time the DVD is inserted into the DVD-ROM drive, the program will automatically launch. (Note: This AutoPlay feature is not available if the Journeyman Project 3: Legacy of Time Startup window does not automatically appear the first time the DVD-ROM is inserted.) To reactivate the Startup window, insert the Journeyman Project 3: Legacy of Time DVD-ROM into your DVD-ROM drive. When the program begins, immediately press Alt+F4 to quit. Double-click the My Computer icon on the Windows 95 desktop. Click the J3_dvd icon once with the right mouse button and select AutoPlay Dialog. Click the check box at the bottom of the Startup window marked "Show this window next time you insert the DVD" so a check mark is placed there. Click Run to start the program. To Remove If you need to remove Journeyman Project 3: Legacy of Time, begin at the Windows 95 desktop. Click the Start button, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon. Click the Install/Uninstall tab and select Journeyman Project 3: Legacy of Time from the list of programs. Click the Add/Remove button and then click the Yes button to remove the program. Click OK to clear the screen. ******************************************************************* 3. Hardware Issues ******************************************************************* Make sure that you have the newest drivers installed for your video and sound cards. ******************************************************************* 4. Troubleshooting ******************************************************************* Make sure that you have the newest drivers installed for your video and sound cards. Attention Windows®98 Users If you are using Windows98, you may experience some audio problems while playing Legacy of Time. To avoid these problems, you should perform the following steps BEFORE you begin playing. 1. From the Start Menu go to Settings, select Control Panel 2. Double click on Multimedia 3. Click the Audio tab and then under the Playback heading, click the Advanced Properties button 4. Click the Performance tab 5. Move the Hardware Acceleration slider to "None" 6. Click the Apply button 7. Click the OK button to close the Advanced Audio Properties window 8. Click the OK button to close the Multimedia Properties window 9. Click the "X" button in the upper right corner of the Control Panel window to return to the Desktop Electronic Registration for Windows98 Users There is a known bug that may generate an error when trying to Electronically Register Legacy of Time under Windows98. If you transmit your registration via the Internet, the e-reg program will display a "Waiting to contact to server" message. After 1 minute the program may timeout, and the following error message could be displayed: title: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library body: Runtime Error! Program: ...\EREG32.EXE abnormal program termination Click the OK button to clear the error message and exit the e-reg program. If you see this error message, don't worry, your registration has been received. DVD-Video Set-Top Players The following DVD-Video Television Set-Top players may have problems loading the Legacy of Time DVD: Toshiba 2107 Toshiba 3107 There is no known workaround for this issue. Sound stops after changing audio quality from 22khz to 44khz using the options menu. Fix: On some computers making this change sets your sound card volume to 0. Use the Windows95 volume control panel to turn the volume back up. Choppy video or audio during cinematic sequences or walk cycle movies. Fix: Change the video setting in the options menu to Line Skipping. Legacy of Time will not run with video display set to 256 colors on some computers. Fix: Set the video display to High Color. Text on Options menu does not line up with controls. Fix: Task out of the game and turn off the Windows 95 task bar auto hide option. Text on menu screens is too large. Fix: Left click on the desktop and select the Properties option. Then click the Appearance tab on the display properties box. Next, click the Scheme box and select a desktop scheme that does not use large fonts. Now click Apply and OK. Error message -1856: This message indicates a driver problem. Fix: Make sure that you have the newest sound and video drivers and that they are properly installed on your system. ******************************************************************* 5.
