Please be sure to read the installation manual when installing. o Regarding the number of colors when starting the installer When starting the installer, depending on the number of colors, the installation screen may not start properly. Even if you start the installer according to the manual, if the screen turns black and the screen does not appear, Please switch to a different number of colors and try starting the installer. o For SMP machines The initial kernel (vmlinux) for SMP-equipped machines is not SMP-compatible. Only one CPU is enabled. The SMP-enabled kernel is provided with the name vmlinux.smp. HOLON Linux To use 2.0 with SMP support, please install using this vmlinux.smp kernel instead of vmlinux. Please note that the SMP function is currently in the tuning stage, and depending on the model, it may be extremely unstable or may not start. Please understand this point before using the product. If you want to switch to a kernel with the SMP function enabled after installation, after installing the kernel-smp package, Boot using the vmlinux.smp kernel. o If the installer screen is distorted and does not display properly, depending on the model, the screen settings that Linux automatically performs may not initialize correctly. On such models, the screen during installation will be distorted and difficult to read. In this case, try the options below. setxga8 setxga16 setxga24 setxga32 The above four will forcefully switch the screen settings during installation to 1024x768 60MHz. Setxga8 sets the number of colors to 256 colors, followed by 65536 colors, 16.77 million colors, and 1 billion colors. Please specify one of the four options. If you have a monitor that does not support this horizontal sync frequency and resolution, These options will cause your monitor screen to display incorrectly. Please make sure your monitor supports this setting before using these options. text This option forces the installer to proceed in text mode. If you are having trouble switching to a GUI screen where you can use a mouse, try this setting. Add the above five settings to the More kernel arguments section for BootX, and to the append line for yaboot. When specifying multiple options, leave at least one space between them. append = "setxga8 text" (Example: 1024x768 60MHz 256 colors, when starting in text mode) o If you cannot see the disk to be installed, it may be due to a bug in the hard disk firmware, or if the model does not have complete SCSI support. The disk on which you install HOLON Linux may not be recognized by the installer. In that case, you can install it on another disk and use it normally.
