Playing the Game (general interface)
====================================

By default, the game starts running in windowed mode. This is to avoid any
compatibility problem. If you wish to go fullscreen, you can do so using
the Preferences, or, at any time, by pressing the 'f' key.

Some of the more interesting game actions can be performed as follows:

- The left mouse button is used to advance to the next line of
dialogue, or to pick menu options.

- The right mouse button brings you into a menu screen where you can
save the game, load the game, change preferences, return to the main
menu, or quit entirely.

- Scrolling the mouse wheel up or pushing page up returns you to the
previous screen. This is useful if you missed some dialogue during the
game events.
It's not recommended during the resolution phases, though.

- Holding down the CTRL key skips dialogue. By default, it only
skips read dialogue, but this can be changed by a preference.
Tab toggles skip mode.

Playing Magical Boutique
========================

The game is turn-based with one turn lasting one in-game day.

The turn begins with an optional event scene. Click after each sentence to
go on. If you get to make a choice, click on the appropriate button.

Once you reach the "main menu" screen, you have three main choices :
- Assign : This is where you assign a task to each member of the staff.
   - Brew : Choose a potion to brew while checking how many you have and how many
      ingredients it requires.
   - Gather : Choose a location to gather at and then choose an optional focus on
a specific ingredient (pick the "?" icon to get anything present at the
location). Note that focusing makes you more likely to find that particular
ingredient, but it also means that you won't be picking up anything else
you might find. This means you could come back with a lot of that ingredient
or almost nothing if you happened to encounter only the other ingredients.
   - None : When their morale is low, your employees should rest. The two days
weekend is the best time for this, but it can be done during the week
      in case of an emergency.
- Status :
   - Shelves : lists the potions sitting on your shelves. These potions are
automatically available for sale. You can click on the potion to get
a more detailed description, including its current price.
   - Stocks : lists the ingredients at your disposal. Click on one to get
      a description.
   - Grimoire : lists the recipes you know. Click for details.
   - Staff : yourself, and the people working for you.
   - Stats : how many potions you've sold and which ones
- Go to town (Saturday only) : see what merchants have for sale. Be careful though,
as things don't come cheap and you have salaries to pay everyday.

Once you're done assigning tasks and checking on your status, you can click the
"End turn" button. It might warn you if you have non-working employees during the
week and working employees on the weekend. You can choose to go back or enforce
your choices.

Resolution phase :

First, your working employees will be shown, with an explanation of what they're doing
or have done. Some tasks may take more than one day in which case the remaining time
will be shown. See how many potions were brewed and how many ingredients were
gathered... Also take a look at your current balance and the salaries your workers
(and yourself) are demanding. It's a bad thing not to pay an employee! They'll let you
know about it...
The more employees work on a task, the better they get at it. You will be notified when
an employee gained levels in a task. The number displayed then is the new level for
this particular talent.

Finally, you will get to the sales phase as long as it's not the weekend. You get to
see how well you did : potions sold and potions that people wanted but that you
didn't have. Make sure to notice which potions are popular so you can brew more of
these the next day. Try to always have a few of each type of potion too, just in
case.
If people don't find what they're looking for, your reputation will take a small hit.
Otherwise, it will slowly grow, which means more clients and more money for you.

That's pretty much all there is to know to play the game. All the subtleties are left
for the player to discover. Have fun!
