The file KingOfChicago_unhacked.dsk was taken from the original floppy disk with DiskDup+ set to tolerate 1 bad sector. It's likely the "bad" sector was a form of copy protection, since the resulting image does not work for more than a minute without crashing, as does a previous upload to the web of a game disk as floating files.

The following hack was found online and has been applied to the file KingOfChicago_hacked.dsk:

"Found a fix!! I spent a couple of hours in MacsBug and Code Editor to find the problem comes from a loop between offsets 14E8 to 1516 in resource CODE ID=1, apparently filling up the stack. Skipping the loop solves the problem, i.e. makes the game playable. My recommendation: change code at offset 14F0 as follows:
from: 426E FBFE 3F3C 7530, to: 426E FBFE 3F3C FDFD. Enjoy the game!"

The hacked version of the disk runs well, at least as far as it has been tested, a few minutes into the game.
