You emerge from the dreary Akadai tunnels and barely take in your first breath of fresh air before you feel a presence. For a moment you believe that someone might be close by, watching you climb out of the muck, yet a quick glance around reveals no one. This feeling of another presence continues to grow stronger until the hairs on your neck begin to tingle with suspicion. Suddenly, you hear a voice: <pb>"<pn>! Can you hear me? It is I, your old friend Erubor! I am speaking to you through remote scrying and we only have a few moments before it is too dangerous to continue this mental link."

"I don't know you. What horrible sorcery are you using to enter my mind?"
"<pn>, please listen to me. I am your friend. Our history together goes back many years, though you may not remember due to the serum you took to erase your memories. I sent you a note which you received several days ago. You need to listen to what I have to say."

"Erubor! I am grateful you have made contact with me. I have located a second Crux stone!"
"Yes, yes...it is because you have two Crux stones that I was able to contact you using a scrying sphere. I have attempted to follow your progress since you arrived in Wylderan, with limited success. The letter that I wrote for you, given to you by Lilith, contained several words of magick. Upon reading that letter, I have been able to follow your location by tracking these words which now reside in your mind. But it was only after you acquired the second Crux stone that I have been able to locate you precisely enough to make contact. Unfortunately, this will also hasten the enemy's search for you, so our talk must be brief."

"I understand. Please, go on."
"My friend, events are unraveling now with dizzying speed. Goblins are ashore in eastern Wylderan, sent by The One known as Malkur, to locate you and the two Crux you now possess. He knows you have the Crux of Fire, and he knows another Crux stone is somewhere in this region. How lucky we are to have stumbled upon it before his Goblin hordes found it." <pb>"I have uncovered more information about the Orakur, and I need to tell you what I know."

"What new information do you have about the Orakur?"
"The Orakur have come to this world to stop a horrible event that is going to come to pass soon. There is going to be a great eruption of magma so massive that all of Eschalon will be choked under ash and fire. This has been foretold to me, by soothsayers and mystics alike. Even now the celestials are aligning, the ground shakes and the air turns acrid; this event is nearly upon us. The Orakur need the Crux stones to prevent this event from happening. Malkur, however, wants to use the stones to return to his home...his time. If he succeeds, then this eruption event will come to pass and nearly everything on Eschalon will be destroyed."

"His time? What do you mean?"
"The Orakur have come from the future...our distant future. Their knowledge of Candecium magick and the Crux stones is so advanced it is utterly unknown to me. Using this strange magick, they crafted a machine that was used to come back in time to stop this event, to seal a great rift to the east and prevent the eruption that is brewing deep in Eschalon's core. But there was an accident. Upon returning, the Orakur's machine broke apart and they were unable to complete their quest. They have spent many years gathering the material needed to fix their craft, to finish their task, before the eruption occurs and dooms us all."

"And Malkur wishes to prevent this?"
"Yes. Malkur broke away from the Orakur years ago and has set upon gathering the Crux stones for himself. These Crux are the only objects powerful enough to rip time apart and allow him to return to his world, which is why the other Orakur separated and hid the four stones so long ago. By allowing other factions of this world- the race of Men, Dwarves, and Akadai- to acquire these Crux and secure them as priceless treasures, these stones have remained hidden and guarded until the Orakur could finish the repairs on their craft."

"So what do we do now?"
"Continue ahead with the plan I gave you in the letter. Head north to the Astral Range. Hopefully you will have something worthy of earning Alundar's trust and allow you a visit with Karamiklan. Karamiklan doesn't view the future and the past as we do; his mind is so vast that all of time exists at once for him. He will be able to give us guidance that no one else can. If what I have learned is true, then we need to aid the Orakur as best we can. We need to prevent Malkur from acquiring the Crux stones least he return to his time and allow the terminal eruption event to come to pass." <pb>"I am saving my strength to be able to teleport to you when you need me the most, so I will not be able to make contact with you again for a while. Press forward with caution and courage." <pb>The mental link with Erubor quickly fades.
