Walking aimlessly around the darkness of the crypt is a ghostly silhouette. He turns towards you as you approach: "If you've come to rob my grave, there is little of value here anymore."

"Is your name Edgar? I was sent here by a priest from Moonrise to end your existence."
Edgar appears distraught. "Yes, that name once belonged to me. I was tormented in the living world, and so in death I am as well. No matter- if you have the strength, you may attempt to release me from this place."

"You are a phantasm from the spirit realm! It is unnatural for you to walk within this world. I shall destroy you and cast you from this plane of existence!"
"My wrath is great, but I do hope you can best me so that I may finally sleep."

"I am merely an explorer. I meant not to disturb you."
"Then leave this cursed place. Do not gaze upon me with your living eyes, least you become cursed as I have."

"I am intrigued by your response. Why were you tormented?"
"I was a simple man, and only asked to live a quiet, simple life. I earned my living as a woodworker, but by chance I also became quite proficient at making bows. I crafted bows from the wood of the great trees of Elderoak, and they were known far and wide as the best in all of Eschalon." <pb>"One day a man came to me and asked me to craft a special bow. He wanted it to be a supreme weapon forged with a spite for all living things which he was going to give to his 'master' as a gift. I refused, but he threatened to kill me if I didn't do as he asked, and so I reluctantly began to work on it. After a year of effort it was finished, and when I looked upon it I knew it was the most dreadful thing I had ever seen. I named it 'Bittersting'."

"What happened to it?"
"The man returned for it, and I told him I could not let him have it. The weapon was too powerful, too dreadful, and I trusted no one with it except for myself. He simply walked out without saying a word, but later that night he returned while I slept and cut my throat, and of course he took Bittersting." <pb>"My body was placed here in my family's vault- a forgotten grave in an abandoned town. Unfortunately I cannot rest while Bittersting is in the hands of a murderous person who would use it to send others to their grave. Bittersting must be recovered before I will be at peace."

"If I recover Bittersting for you, will you finally lay yourself to rest?"
"Why, yes I certainly would. That pleases me to hear you would risk your life so that I can finally end this forsaken purgatory that binds me here." <pb>"UnfortunateIy, I do not know where it would be. By now it may have been sold, stolen or traded a dozen times. It may still be in the hands of this murderer which distresses me most. Please, recover it and let me see it one last time, then I will be able to rest."

"That is quite a story. Perhaps you will be pleased to know that my intention is to destroy you so that you can finally rest."
"So be it, but my restlessness has made me powerful. I cannot control my wrath should you attack me."

"I have recovered Bittersting." [Show Edgar Bittersting]
Edgar looks upon the weapon and you sense a change in his temperament. "Yes! Yes! That is my Bittersting! Give it to me!" He reaches out to take it but his corporeal hands pass right through. This seems to frustrate him greatly. <pb>"That is my bow! Leave it! Lay it down inside my coffin and remove yourself from my crypt at once!" Edgar screams. You sense that the crypt is saturated with negative energy now- feelings of contempt, anger and jealousy.

"You promised that you would leave this realm if I brought you Bittersting."
"I will leave when I am ready to leave! Who are you to tell me what to do?" Edgar asks. He glances at Bittersting, still in your hands, and you feel his anger swell. "Give me my Bittersting!" he yells again. Suddenly you sense Edgar's temperament has fully changed, and he begins to aggressively approach you...
