This dark-skinned woman has eyed you the very moment you walked through the door of the tavern. You get the feeling that she resents having another customer to wait on, as she is far less welcoming than any other tavern owner you have ever encountered. <pb>After a moment of awkward silence, she finally speaks. "Take a seat wherever you'd like. I'll be with you in a moment."

"I am looking for the owner of this tavern. I need to inquire about a warlord named Alundar."
<en> pauses, then turns towards you with a suspicious look. "I am the owner of this dive." She throws back a half-drank shot of whiskey with a loud swallow, then drags her sleeve across her mouth. "Alundar, eh? What do you want to know about that jackal bastard?"

"I was sent here under guidance of a friend. He said you might know of a way to win over the grace of Alundar, so that I might have a moment to speak with a prisoner of his."
The woman snorts out a condescending laugh, though you can tell that she is truly amused by your comment. She doesn't immediately respond, though just before you are compelled to say something else, she speaks. "Alundar is not going to let you speak with any prisoner he holds," she says while shaking her head as if she is responding to an annoying question from a child.

"Surely there must be..."
<en> cuts you off. "Surely, there isn't. I should know. Alundar is my brother, as much as I hate to admit it." She holds up the empty shot glass in her hand. "You might as well ask to have the entire ocean put into this glass. You'd sure as hell have a better chance of getting that wish fulfilled."

"I cannot accept this answer. I am on a very important quest."
"Oh, a very important quest, you say? Well, that changes everything. Alundar always listens to foreigners who come to him on very important quests. I believe he keeps their heads on pikes outside his domicile so that he can inquire from time-to-time as to how their quest is going!" <pb><en> laughs again. "Alundar is a Barrean warlord. He is cruel and selfish, as all warlords are." <pb>"See, Alundar was given the entire Astral Range here in northern Wylderan as peace offering to end a long standing feud, and I was to be bonded into marriage with a northern warlord as part of the deal. I refused and he threatened to behead me for insulting him, so I escaped and started a new life for myself here in Moonrise. If his own sister cannot earn his grace, what makes you think you can?"

"This is what has been asked of me. I must try."
"Well, it's your head. I can't stop you from trying to lose it." <pb><en> reflects for a moment. "Actually, that might be your answer. Alundar loves to collect heads, specifically his enemy's. To him, a pile of rotting skulls is a garden of roses; a symbol of power and control. If you were to bring him the head of one of his foes, it might earn you his respect for a short while, and with that who knows what is possible."

"This is the best advice you can give me?"
"I see no other way, to be honest." <pb>"Now, which head should you bring him? It's not like he doesn't have a hundred enemies in each province of Eschalon. But I know of a particularly coveted trophy he would love to have. Do you know of the Akadai? They are the amphibious tribes of Mirkland, and they are aggressively territorial. Years back, when I was still young, a ship carrying spices passed too close to the shores of Mirkland while navigating the strait. The Akadai Kingspawn attacked and sunk it, sending a hundred-thousand gold worth of spice into the sea. Alundar was enraged when he heard the news, but retaliation was not to be. Mirkland is a soggy, humid swamp. Alundar and his warriors know only the arid and mountainous regions of Barrea and the Astral Range. For him to attack the Akadai in Mirkland would be suicide; Alundar knows this. As you can imagine, this is a significant unsettled matter for him."

"So you are suggesting that I bring him the head of the Akadai King?"
"Ha! Precisely!" she loudly exclaims. "Well, that is my suggestion anyway. You asked for it. Now then, buy a drink or get the hell out of my place!"

"I need to purchase a Deadly Skills Permit."
"You do, huh?" Dannia smirks. "No problem, it's not like the council members of Moonrise really care who gets one. They just like the extra gold it puts in their pockets. It'll be 500 gold pieces."

"Here you are." [Give Dannia 500 gold]
"Thanks." Dannia takes the gold and walks it to a small metal box tucked away under the bar. From the same box, she pulls out a slip of paper and walks it back to you. "There you go. Have fun with it."
