This shop appears to specialize in minerals and gemstones, and most likely serves as the merchant for much of the raw material recovered from the nearby mine. <pb>As you enter the store, you notice a fair Dwarvish woman with fire-red braided hair who is sorting smooth, colorful rocks into various bins. She turns to greet you as you approach. "Hello Longtall! Welcome to my mineral shop. What brings you in today?"

"You must know a lot about gemstones. What can you tell me of a gem called the 'Crux of Fire'?"
"Oh, you are interested in the Crux legends, are you? Well, they say there are four Crux gemstones in all, with the 'Crux of Fire' being one of 'em. Supposedly they are purestone Candecium crystals which carry intense magickal energy." <pb>"The current rumor perpetuated by gossipers and wandering bards is that the Dwarf Lord Brumbelton of Durnore possessed the Crux of Fire, but recently a thief stole the gem from his mine. I don't really believe the story. Oh, I'm sure ol' Brumbelton did have a nice gemstone stolen from him, but I doubt it was one of the legendary Crux. He is known to exaggerate his own financial worth." <pb>"As for me, I think the Crux stones are just legends. I don't believe they can exist. I've never seen a Candecium crystal that was ever larger than just a tiny pebble. Candecium generally comes from the mine looking like shimmering sand."

"Candecium sounds like it has fascinating properties."
"It is a crystal that is used by practitioners of magick. Skillful blacksmiths can add Candecium to molten steel, imbuing weapons and armor with enchantments. Wands become significantly more powerful when crafted with Candecium, and potions brewed with plants that have naturally absorbed Candecium from the soil are of exceptional potency." <pb>"We Dwarves do not have much use for it, though we certainly value anything that other people will pay gold for! We stockpile the Candecium that we extract from the mine, and if its market value ever increases, we'll surely profit well from our supply. Right now, Candecium dust just barely pays for the cost of extracting it."

"It seems to me that Candecium would be more valuable than it is, given its unique magickal properties."
"The average person has no need or want from Candecium dust, and only a few artisans of magick devices can utilize it in a productive way. More so, Candecium is considered a dangerous material. It is rumored that if you swallow it, or handle Candecium with your bare hands for a great amount of time, you will become gravely ill. They say your hair will fall out, your skin will blister, and you will wither away until death takes you! I cannot confirm this; I rarely touch it and I am certainly not foolish enough to eat any! We store it away in lead containers, just to be safe." <pb>"Say, I bet your name is <pn>, am I right?"

"That is amazing! How did you know my name?"
"Ah!" she proclaims loudly. "I knew it! You see, two weeks ago a human lady came in here and asked if I had seen anyone matching your description. I said no, I had not. She then told me that there was a good chance that someone matching your description, with your name, would come to visit this store. She said you would probably be very curious about Candecium, and might even ask about the Crux legends. Sure enough, here you are! I can hardly believe it myself!" <pb>"I am to give you a very important message."

[LIE] "Uh, that's a good guess, but that's not my name."
Arima pauses, looking doubtful at your response. "Are you sure? It is uncanny how close you match the description of someone I was supposed to give a message to."

"Who was this woman you speak of?"
"She said her name was Lilith and that you two had met each other a while back. She was tall and slender, with dark hair and blue eyes. When I asked why she thought you would come to this store, she said that you were traveling through these parts and would likely have questions that only a gem specialist would be able to answer. She said it was 'highly probable' that you would seek out a merchant such as myself." <pb><en> chuckles. "She gave me a couple hundred gold just to do this one task for her: watch for your arrival and to give you a message. Easiest gold I ever earned!"

"Well then, what was the message?"
"She said it was imperative that you contact her. She has made camp straight west of here, on the Baasilt Dunes. She didn't give me an exact location; she just said you would be able to find her." <en> points to a chart on the wall which shows sun and moon phases. "She said she would remain there until the end of the summer season, which is approaching soon. After that she would return to the mainland. You shouldn't waste too much time if you plan to meet her."

"I think I was teleported here. I remember a flash of light, and then I awoke in the jungle atop the nearby volcano."
"Your claim doesn't surprise me. You know, the dormant volcano that rises south of here has a long history of being considered a magickal place. Some people who are dedicated to the magickal arts come here to work on their skills. It is likely because Weeping Mountain is full of Candecium, a crystal which radiates a strong magickal aura. If you have a keen eye, you can sometimes find it in the rocks while you walk around up there in the crater." <pb>"As for how you were teleported to this area, I could only make wild guesses, but it most certainly would have been the result of bumbled portal magick. Whatever the reason, you are welcome to stay in Rockhammer for as long as you need to gather yourself together before continuing your travels."

"Do you have any work I could do for some coin?"
"As a matter of fact, I do! I am in need of ten pearls, for a Dwarf who wishes to present his bride-to-be with a unique gift. As you know, pearls don't come from the mine, they can only be found within the giant clams that nest on the beach." <pb>"If you can gather me ten pearls, I will pay you the full market value of the pearls- any other vendor will just offer you the wholesale rate. Are you interested in this job?"

"Oh, thank you so very much! You can find giant clams on nearly any beach in the area. But please be careful; those clams will snap shut the moment you reach your hand in to feel for a pearl. You must be very swift to avoid getting injured. Also, I need ten pearls, no less. I will not pay you for 4 or 7 or 9...only 10 pearls all together. Understand?"

"I found all ten pearls for you!" [Give Arima the Pearls]
"My oh my, look at those! I tend to favor real gemstones brought up from the mine, but there's no denying that a quality pearl is a thing of beauty!" <pb>Arima reaches into a leather pouch around her waist and pulls out a handful of gold. "The market rate for pearls is 40 gold apiece, so that's 400 for all ten. Here you are!"
