Chessmaster2000_1_02.dsk:

Version 1.02 was copied from its 800k floppy via Copy II Mac's sector copy in order to get past a file titled "Necessary evil," which prevents copying by all other means except drag-and-drop to a hard drive. The floppy copy was then imaged using DiskCopy 4.2 and converted to DiskDup+ format by ShrinkWrap 3.5.1. This image will remain in "demo" mode only, re-starting the game every 60 seconds.

Chessmaster2000_1_02k.dsk:

The above image was then cracked using ResEdit to change the CODE 1 resource as follows--

- search for A851 4EBA 3130 42A7
- change to A851 4EBA 3130 602E
(This causes part of the verification routine to be skipped over.)
- search for 584F 4A40 6724 362E 0008
- change to 584F 4A40 4E71 362E 0008
(This also skips part of the verification code.)

Chessmaster2000_1_00k.dsk:

Version 1.00 was uploaded to the web as floating files patched for copy protection, missing a bootable system folder and a few of its classic game files. Here is the patch information:

ChessMaster 2000 v?.?

---------------------

? The program will not ask for the master disk

     - Use a disk editor such as Norton's Disk Editor

       - search for A851 4EBA 30A8 42A7

         change to A851 4EBA 30A8 602E

       - search for 584F 4A40 6724 362E 0008

         change to 584F 4A40 4E71 362E 0008

The included version 1.00 disk image was made by taking the previously mentioned 1.02 image and replacing its Chessmaster application with the version 1.00 patched application. The result is a disk image that has no copy protection and seems to function properly in all respects, and includes all of its classic game files.
