The "H" Battle Formation

To be effective in battle, line up your troops in an "H" formation with the heavy infantry as the center bar and your light infantry as the posts. Place another group of light infantry to the right of the formation.

Heavy infantry is slow, so don't march them further than four squares. Let the enemy come to you, so that they take damage from your missile troops as they approach. Once the enemy is deeply entrenched in your heavy infantry, bring your fast, light infantry around to outflank them.

Now take the additional light infantry (to the right of the "H" formation), and use them to attack the now-unprotected enemy missile troops. There are two possible outcomes: 1) The enemy missile troops will shift their aim to the advancing infantry, in which case the main army loses their support, or 2) Your infantry will walk in unopposed and decimate the missile troops. Once the missile backup has been taken out, use the Pursue command. This will cause the secondary infantry to rush into the battle.
