The "Asteroids-swf" folder collection

swf means ShockWave Flash, this archive is a Flash Movie file which clones the 1979 Atari
vector graphics coin-op game "Asteroids" with The Most Faithful Precision! The 'movie' has
been further dressed in 3 manners :
                                                                         MAX X,Y
  "Asteroids.wdgt" Dashboard Widget for OSX 10.4 + 280x210
  "Asteroids-swf" Carbon application +icon for OS9<>OSX 982x736
"Asteroids.swf" Movie file +icon, requests Safari unlimited

The folder named "original" contains the bare "asteroids.swf" file dated October 14, 2005
when "widgets" were a new thing in Tiger OSX 10.4 -- the flash movie instructions page
gives credit to "widget design" and only the widget will require clicking on menu choices,
flash players activate the menu choices simply by running into them with the mouse pointer.
The game was built to be a widget! But the widget interface is an awkward thing, requiring
OSX Tiger or greater, and this widget was made to have a tiny window size fixed at 280x210.

The game maintains an aspect ratio of 1.333 :1
A keyboard command is missing from the instructions, press 'Y' in a game to go to Menu

The widget design is how I received this program. But the widget wrapping is a thin layer
contributing so little, and when it is playing in a Flash Movie player, this Asteroids can
be resized as big or as small as you want it, resized while being played at that. And it
can run as a Flash Movie in much older and newer Mac models. I made the other two versions
(anonymously) : Asteroids-swf is the movie file compiled into a carbon application using
Macromedia StandAlone Flash Player, it prevents the window size from exceeding around
982 x 736 but it might run in OS 8 and does run in OS9 and low OSX versions.

"Asteroids.swf" is elegantly only 60 KB in file length, most of which comprises the icon.
I tagged it in a couple of ways so that when double clicking on it, Safari is sought out
to be the Flash Player - this allows window resizing limited only by total screen size.
Safari 1.0 in Jaguar OSX 10.2.8 did not work, but I tested Safari 1.2.3 and higher within
OSX 10.3.5 and higher all do run good.
