Audiobooking step 2: Place text in Verbalize
Once you have text you need to speak, the next step is to place it into Verbalize. You can use the Import command it if it's plain text, but really it's much simpler.
If you are inserting a large amount of text (more than a paragraph), it's probably a good idea to switch to Multi-Line layout.
COPY AND PASTE!
Open the file or web page and select the text (not the icon in the Finder!). Copy, switch to Verbalize, and Paste. The clipboard automatically strips out the images and special formatting into plain text format.
Whatever you do, don't click the bubble button to commence speech! Apart from waiting for Verbalize to finish, the only way to stop immensely long speech is to force-quit!
