By entering Edit mode, your mouse or tablet becomes a sculpting tool -- clicking and dragging anywhere on the canvas either deforms the object (if you click/drag on its surface), or rotates it (if you click/drag anywhere other than its surface). First of all, the object is drawn according to the settings in the [buttonFind,tool:modifiers:initialize,"Initialize"] sub-palette. These modifiers are unique to each primitive, and enable you to begin sculpting with variations on the basics, or increase or decrease the object's resolution.

A note about the Initialize sliders: changing these immediately causes the object to conform to these settings, and all other deformations are discarded (unless you press [buttonFind,tool:modifiers:Undo,Undo]).

Each slider has X, Y and Z sub-modifiers; these determine which axes each slider works on. Click each sub-modifier to select or de-select the appropriate axis -- yellow means it's selected, gray means it's de-selected. For example, [buttonFind,tool:modifiers:deformation:size,Size] with only the Z sub-modifier selected causes the object to be resized only in the Z direction.

All the above sculpting tools and features can be masked, using buttons and sliders in the [buttonFind,tool:modifiers:selection,Selection] sub-palette. Masking "protects" an area of the 3D object from deformation, so the combination of these powerful sculpting features with masking techniques enables you to create striking and innovative sculptures.
