/*text_start*/ZBrush provides a remarkably simple way to create seamlessly-tileable textures:

Start with a blank document. If necessary, crop the document so its height and width are set to your desired dimensions. This can be done by adjusting the \C020202Document>Height\C484848 and \C020202Document>Width\C484848 sliders, and pressing \C020202Crop\C484848.

\C020202First,\C484848 use any of ZBrush's tools to create an image within the canvas area. Don't allow any part of the image to 'slip' off the edges of the canvas.

\C020202Second,\C484848 hold down the \C020202tilde (~)\C484848 key and click+drag the canvas to a new position. Anything that moves off one side will reappear on the opposite side, as if the canvas image were scrolling. Add to the image, filling in the areas which were previously near the canvas edges (if desired). Again, don't allow any part of the image to 'slip' off the edges.

Repeat the tilde-scrolling process until you have filled the canvas to your satisfaction.

Finally, press \C020202Texture>Grab Doc\C484848 to capture the canvas as a texture. The resulting texture will be a seamless texture tile, endlessly repeatable on any surface.

Using the \C020202tilde\C484848 key scrolls all elements on the active layer. If mathematical precision is required, you can also adjust the \C020202Layer>Displace H\C484848 and \C020202Layer>Displace V\C484848 sliders, first making sure the \C020202W (Wrap) Mode\C484848 button is highlighted.
