/*title_start*/About Multiple Texture Maps/*title_end*/
/*text_start*/Some programs assign UV mapping to models in such a way that multiple textures are mapped to different parts of the model. ZBrush reads and respects UV maps for all imported models, although its natively-generated UV mapping types allow for one texture per object.

ZBrush handles multiple textures through the use of selective mesh visibility and UV groups. When UV groups are assigned to a model so that each group corresponds to a separate texture region, it's simple to view and modify one texture at a time by \C020202Shift-CTRL-clicking\C484848 each group and selecting its texture.

UV groups which correspond to separate textures can be assigned in one of two ways:

\C020202>\C484848 The \C020202UV Textures to Groups\C484848 button (in the \C020202Tool>Polygroups\C484848 sub-palette) can be pressed. This assigns UV groups correctly only if each of the model's textures has been assigned a separate UV space by the original program. If pressing this button results in multiple colored groups in the polymesh, this is the case and no further grouping is necessary.

\C020202>\C484848 UV groups can be assigned manually. This is done by selectively viewing each texture's mesh region and hiding the rest (a combination of \C020202Shift-CTRL-clicking\C484848 and \C020202dragging\C484848). Once each region is selectively viewed, the \C020202Group Visible\C484848 button (in the \C020202Tool>Polygroups\C484848 sub-palette) can be pressed.

It should be noted that UV group assignment is not essential for correct texture management. It simply provides you with a means of viewing one texture (and one portion of the mesh) at a time with simple clicks, hiding those portions which are not of immediate interest.
