/*title_start*/Q: How do I import an object?/*title_end*/

/*text_start*/\C020202A: \C484848ZBrush supports the import and export of DXF and OBJ formats. OBJ format retains texturing and UV-coordinate information. Import and Export buttons are found near the top of the \C020202Tool\C484848 palette.

When an object is imported, it is added to the \C020202Tool\C484848 palette and selected automatically, ready to be drawn upon the canvas.

Export options are available in the \C020202Tool\C484848 palette when any 3D object is selected. To access import options such as merging and welding, first select the \C020202PolyMesh3D\C484848 (star-shaped) tool.

You may find objects are consistently flipped on a certain axis or axes when imported and exported; this can be addressed by pressing the appropriate buttons in the Preferences>ImportExport sub-palette.

ZBrush itself is capable of generating a number of UV mapping types including the distortion-minimizing \C020202AUVTiles\C484848 type. ZBrush also reads and retains any UV mapping type present in an imported OBJ file -- and gives you the tools to build upon and refine it.
