[Title," Octopus Tutorial "][pd][Caption,"by Ken Brilliant"]

This tutorial shows an example of an adaptive skin mesh made from a Zsphere model that had multiple child ZSpheres branching from one ZSphere.

[pd]\CffffffFigure 2.\Ca0a0a0 [ButtonFind,Transform:>Y<,"Y"] [ButtonFind,Transform:(R),"Radial Symmetry"] with a [ButtonFind,Transform:radialcount,"Radial Count"] of 8 is turned on, and smaller spheres are drawn. [ButtonFind,Draw:drawsize,"Size"] the brush to 1, and [ButtonFind, transform:move,"Move"] the ZSpheres down a bit.
[pd][Image,"Octo_03.jpg"]
[pd]\CffffffFigure 3.\Ca0a0a0 In ZSphere add mode ([ButtonFind,Transform:drawpointer,"Draw Pointer"]), 4 ZSpheres are added to one tentacle, which adds the same to each tentacle in Y symmetry mode. In this example, the ZSphere was drawn once, and "[ButtonFind,Stroke:replay last,"Replay Last"]" was used to quickly add the copies. They were then [ButtonFind, transform:move,"Moved"] out into position.
[pd][Image,"Octo_04.jpg"]
[pd]\CffffffFigure 4.\Ca0a0a0 [ButtonFind, transform:>Y<,"Y"] [ButtonFind, transform:(R),"Radial Symmetry"] is turned off, and [ButtonFind,Transform:>X<,"X Symmetry"] is turned on (no radial). 2 smaller ZSpheres are added to the main one in [ButtonFind, transform:drawpointer,"Draw Pointer"] mode.
[pd][Image,"Octo_05.jpg"]
[pd]\CffffffFigure 5.\Ca0a0a0 The 2 new ZSpheres are [ButtonFind, transform:move,"Moved"] back into the large sphere. These will be the eyes.
[pd][Image,"Octo_06.jpg"]
[pd]\CffffffFigure 6.\Ca0a0a0 Turn [ButtonFind,Transform:>X<,"X Symmetry"] off. In [ButtonFind,Transform:rotate,"Rotate"] mode, bend and position the tentacles.
[pd][Image,"Octo_07.jpg"]
[pd]\CffffffFigure 7.\Ca0a0a0 An [ButtonFind,Tool:inventory:make adaptive skin,"Adaptive Skin"] is made (See settings in figure).
[pd][Image,"Octo_08.jpg"]
[pd]\CffffffFigure 8.\Ca0a0a0 Edit tools are used to sculpt the model further while still in [ButtonFind,Transform:editobject,"Edit"] mode. (In this case, [ButtonFind,Transform:Scale,"Scale"] was mostly used to change the head shape.
[pd][Image,"Octo_09.jpg"]
[pd]\CffffffFigure 9.\Ca0a0a0 Full [ButtonFind,Tool:Modifiers:Smooth,"Smoothing"] is turned on with [ButtonFind,Tool:Modifiers:Subdivision Surface Resolution,"Subdivision Surface Resolution"] to 6.
