Infocom_Fixed.zip

These seven games are "fixed" versions of the ones currently located at
ftp.apple.asimov.net/pub/Apple_II/images/games/adventure/infocom

I call them "fixed" for a couple reasons...maybe it's because I'm a
purist, but I hate to see games that have been unnecessarily hacked
and/or cracked. I also noticed that a game or two fail their $VERIFY
command, usually because of one bad byte. Well, I've fixed these, and
make them available to other purists.

Leather.dsk - the version of Leather Goddesses of Phobos with Release #/
	Serial # "0/Blown!" is actually "50/860711". Coast-to-Coast for
some reason felt it necessary to change ONLY the Release/Serial
numbers of the story file, and add their crack screen to the
disk, as if it was something to be proud of. C'mon, guys....
Anyway, this version is the "original."
Moonmist.dsk - there are 2 versions currently on Asimov here. "65/Broken"
and "9/861022". The story file of the first version is thought
by many Infocom fans to be a "beta" test version of the game.
The other is the most recent version of the game. Both are
"cracked" (pointlessly). All I had to do with version 9 was to
replace the first 12288 bytes of the disk image with the "pure"
Interpreter Version K, so now it's identical to an uncracked
	original.
PlunderedHearts.dsk - someone at some time hacked out the serial number
of the Asimov version of this story file. My version has the
correct Release/Serial #s of "26/870730". Also, the hacked
one has a single bad byte that causes it to fail the $VERIFY
	command. My version is correct.
SpellBreaker.dsk - the Asimov version of this one is VERY broken. If
you've played it, you know...every once in a while, the text
on the screen spits out a couple extra garbage characters. I
don't know if the problem is with the story file or the
interpreter (probably both). At any rate, my version is correct
	and works fine.
Suspect.dsk - another "cracked" version. I've supplied the original
version here, without the crack screen, etc.
Suspended.dsk - someone hacked the serial number of this one, too. I've
replaced the story file with the untouched version.
Zork1.dsk - the serial number of this story file, rather than ??????,
should be UG3AU5. This indicates that this is a VERY old
version of the game, before Infocom started using the game's
compile date as the serial #. (This is the Z2 version of Zork I.
Asimov also has the Z2 version of Zork II. See another one of
my uploaded files, "Infocom.zip" for the Z3 versions of both as
well as other OLD Infocom games.)

Other than making these corrections, I've left the games alone. I've
supplied the exact story file versions with the corresponding original
interpreters. I DO have the most recent version of every Infocom story
file ever made, as well as Apple Interpreter Version M for all of the
Z3 game files, all on disk images. (For those who don't know, Z3 refers
to the Z-code version of the story file. 24 of the 35 "cannon" text
adventures by Infocom were version 3. There were four Z4 games (A Mind
Forever Voyaging, Bureaucracy, Nord and Bert, and Trinity), three Z5
games (Beyond Zork, Border Zone, and Sherlock), and four Z6 games (Zork
Zero, Shogun, Arthur, and Journey). To my knowledge, only one game was
a Z1 version (Zork I - the very first version), and two were Z2 games
(Zork I and II - second version of Zork I, and first version of Zork II).
The Solid Gold re-release games (Zork I, Planetfall, Wishbringer,
Hitchhiker's Guide, and Leather Goddesses) were all done in Z5.)

If anybody wants the latest version of any Z3 game, with the version M
interpreter, e-mail me and I'll send you the disk image (140K, of course).
