LIMITATIONS IN THIS BETA TEST

  1. This beta test runs only on 486 and better processors. There are two
reasons for this. First of all, the 16 color graphics routines use
486-specific code and do not yet have alternate code for 386's. Second,
performance is not yet at a level where video games are playable on a
     386.

  2. The 'Transfer To File' and 'Transfer To Disk' buttons on the toolbar are
not yet functional. Eventually these buttons will allow you to transfer
files to and from disk images.

  3. The 'Configuration' button on the toolbar is not yet active. Eventually
this button will allow you to configure the sound and joystick emulation.
For now, the sound emulation defaults to a waveform device if you have
one installed, and the PC Speaker otherwise. The joystick emulation
defaults to emulating a normal (non-centering) joystick through the
     numeric keypad.

  4. The PC Speaker sound emulation is not yet very accurate. This will be
addressed in the next beta test. In the meantime, you can get better
sound by either using a sound board or letting the emulator sit at the
title page for about 15 seconds before pressing any toolbar buttons.
The emulator calibrates itself while it is sitting at the title page.

  5. Some of the unusual and rarely used //e video modes are not yet
implemented, such as mixed 80-column mode and double low resolution mode.

  6. The software emulation of the //e's hardware banking is not yet efficient
enough to make programs like California Games, which switches the banking
tens of thousands of times per second, playable.

  7. There is no help available currently in the integrated debugger. However,
if you are familiar with other command line debuggers such as CodeView and
SoftICE, you will probably not have any trouble figuring out the syntax.

  8. The option buttons in the 'Disk Images' dialog boxes are not yet
     implemented.
